Author Interview RIMSP

I’m so pleased to welcome Lenora Worth to the blog today!! Lenora and I met in Nashville last year at the ACFW conference (first, in an elevator where we talked about my book bag… I didn’t recognize her. Face palm.) and she’s so sweet and fun to talk with!

Lenora Worth writes fiction for Harlequin’s Love Inspired and Superromance, Gilead Publishing and sweet romance for Tule Publishing. Her LIS “Body of Evidence” made the NY Times Bestseller list in Mass Market Paperbacks and she is also a USA Today and Publishers Weekly Bestselling author. “Bayou Sweetheart” was nominated for an RT Reviewers Choice Award. Three of her books have been nominated for the ACFW Carol Award. Lenora has written over 70 books and has an estimated 3 million books in print. She loves cheesecake, shoe shopping, walking on the beach and reading.

You can connect with Lenora on her supercute website, Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest.

Lenora’s newest book, Her Lakeside Family, released February 1st from Love Inspired.

A Home for the Single Dad

Landing a renovation job for a wealthy Millbrook Lake client is a coup for contractor Davina “Dani” Connell—one that could give her business a much-needed boost. But Santo Alvanetti could be trouble in more ways than one.

Dark, brooding and distractingly handsome, this recently widowed father of three is surrounded by sadness and shadows, much like his home. All good reasons not to become emotionally involved.

They may be complete opposites, but there’s something irresistible about Santo. Dani’s determined to give him and his children the new home and future they deserve.

But could she also be the wife and mom they need?

Hi my friend! I’m so honored to be chatting with you today! I start all of my guests out with a fast four:

apples or oranges

Lenora: Hmm. Used to be apples but I like oranges, too. Because every night while we are watching television, my husband peels one of those cute little oranges and gives me half. Then he peels another one and gives me half. So now I love oranges. 🙂

Carrie: Awwww that’s so sweet!!!

winter or summer

Lenora: Summer–jasmine, sweet tea, long walk at dusk, the ocean, sunshine, etc, etc.

Carrie: I’m a winter fan but I do love the ocean!

dogs or cats

Lenora: I have always loved cats because they are so self-sufficient and quirky.

Carrie: Zuzu (my dog) would like for me to point out that she too is quirky. Notice how she ignored the ‘self-sufficient’ part 😉

coffee or tea

Lenora: Coffee. Straight-up, shaken not stirred!

Carrie: Haha!!! Just call you Worth. Lenora Worth.

Around here I like to say that reading is my superpower. If YOU had a superpower, what would it be?

Lenora: Peacemaker! I believe in love and peace and live and let live!

Carrie: We could use a lot more people with that superpower!

When you walk into a bookstore, where do you head first?

Lenora: Oh, that’s like a kid in a candy store! Look at all the pretties! I like the remainder table for research books and of course, I have to check out the romance section and the Christina fiction section! And I always visit Jane Austen.

Carrie: I always visit author friends at the bookstore, too. I smile at them and pick them up and make sure they’re facing out. I’m sure bookstores love me. LOL.

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever Googled while researching a book?

Lenora: I had to research alligator wrestling! My heroine in Body of Evidence was an animal rescuer and she had alligators on her rescue farm in Texas. There was a scene where she wrestled and muzzled an alligator with the Texas Ranger hero watching in panic. That was fun!

Carrie: hahahaha!!! Show that Texas Ranger how it’s done, girl! Love it!

In Her Lakeside Family, you continue the Men of Millbrook Lake series. Dare I ask – who is your favorite man of Millbrook Lake? 🙂

Lenora: Oh, my. I loved all of them but Hunter was the one who gave me the idea for all five books. He’s in Lakeside Peril, book four. I met him in real life in a biker bar in Oklahoma. I don’t hang out in biker bars but we were visiting a friend who owned one. This man was sitting out on the deck by himself, looking away out into an open field. I thought hmmm, what’s his story. Hunter needed his story told!

Carrie: I love hearing stories like this, of the “real world” inspirations behind characters and stories! Everybody has a story, don’t they? Just a matter of finding someone to tell it. 🙂

Dani Connell and Santo Alvanetti, your protagonists in Her Lakeside Family, are complete opposites. Without giving away spoilers of course, what are some of the ways they are different from each other? And, what attracts each to the other person?

Lenora: Well, Santo is brooding and grieving and she’s spunky and gung-ho. I think she sees his lost soul and I think he wants what she has, happiness. He’s impressed with her ability to see the big picture and that her faith is so strong. She kind of rescues him and his adorable children.

Carrie: A brooding hero… sounds like my cup of tea!

What do you most want readers to take away from Her Lakeside Family?

Lenora: That life isn’t always easy and tragedy can destroy a family, but God is always watching and guiding us.

Carrie: Yes. Amen.

Lenora, thank you so much for taking time to talk with me! 🙂 Before we say goodbye for today, tell us what‘s coming up next for you.

Lenora:  Oh, I’m so excited about what’s next. Some hints–A Navy SEAL and Amish country!!! In one book!!! Thank you so much for inviting me to visit. You know I love you!!

Carrie: You know I love you right back!! 🙂 And … uh … can I read that book right now please?? I’m so intrigued!

Lenora is giving away one paperback copy of Her Lakeside Family (US only) and one ebook copy! So that means TWO of my readers will win! Thank you, Lenora!! Enter via the Rafflecopter form below. Giveaway is subject to Reading Is My SuperPower’s giveaway policies.

    With no coffee in it!

I’m wanting to read that Navy SEAL Amish book now too.

    • Carrie

hahaha! I’m the same way – no coffee with my coffee please 😉

    • Lenora

Thank, Kim. It will be out next year. I’m working on it now!

  2. Rebecca Maney

I like my coffee with sugar and cream and chocolate and just about any other flavoring on the planet! And I share the author’s love of cheesecake as well!

  3. Kay Garrett

Hubby drinks it black and I like the smell of it but never learned to love it. I get my caffeine in another form – diet pepsi (yes for breakfast 😉 ).

  4. Rebecca

Very sweet and creamy – preferably in the form of a latte or Frappuccino at Starbucks!

    • Carrie

i’m one of those people who goes to Starbucks and gets apple cider LOL

  5. Connie Saunders

I like my coffee with lots of milk (or cream if I’m lucky!). No sugar necessary.

  6. Lenora

Thank y’all for stopping by today. I’m drinking lots of coffee since we just got home from a quick trip where I had key lime pie three times. (On three different days, not for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Although that is not a bad idea!

  7. Winnie Thomas

I’m a non-coffee drinker, too. Occasionally, I’ll have a hot chocolate, but I normally don’t enjoy hot drinks. I do like Dr. Pepper, though–cold, not warm!

    • Carrie

I don’t drink coffee either, Tina, but I also like the way it smells. If only it tasted that way lol

  8. Pam

I like my coffee with sweetener and lots of frothy vanilla creamer.

  9. Regina Merrick

I like my coffee black – with two spoons of sugar! lol! I figure that way people will THINK I’m a cool “black coffee” gal, but I can maintain my “sweet side!” Great interview! I met Lenora on an elevator, too, in Indianapolis! LOL!

  10. Donna B

I’ll take sweet iced tea instead of coffee! I’m looking forward to reading these books!

    • Carrie

My hubby likes a lot of flavored creamers – hazelnut included

  11. Sonnetta Jones

If I do drink coffee, it has to be with cream no sugar. My preference is tea all the time.

  12. JJ

I like my coffee really HOT, w/a little cream. For a real treat, I put some whipped cream on top, w/a drizzle of caramel syrup & a dash of coarse sea salt. If I’m really luck I visit that famous coffee chain and order something seasonal.

  13. Jeanna Massman

I try to stay away from caffeine so I gave up coffee.

  14. Trixi

WHA?!?!?! Alligator wrestling??? Oh my, Lenora what you put your poor hero/heroine though…lol!! That would NOT be a profession of mine 😉

Ah yes coffee, let’s get on topic here..HA!! The who alligator thing threw me 🙂 I like my coffee with lots of cream & a smudge of sugar. Whenever I order it at restaurants, I tell the waitress/waiter to just park the cow next to my table….LOL!! For the most part, they get my joke and laugh…other times they look at me as if I grew a third eye on my forehead or something!

Thanks for the chance to win a copy of “Her Lakeside Family”. Fun author interview as always Carrie!

    • Carrie

hahahaha Trixi!!! I bet you do get some looks with that request haha!! Kinda like when my dad asks for diet water. Sigh. LOL.

    • Lenora

Trixi, my alligators drink their coffee black! I have to admit, I loved making that big, strong Texas Ranger squirm just a little bit. My heroine was trained to calm down alligators. 🙂 And Texas Rangers!

  15. Julie Waldron

I like my coffee with flavored liquid creamer & sugar.

  16. Pam Graber

Lenora’s Millbrook Lake series has been a favorite of mine! I’ve been reading her books for a LOOOOOONG time (we’ll leave it at that) and I have never been disappointed that I picked one up. Looking forward to reading the newest!

    • Pam Graber

Oh, and, I know this makes me suspect in some circles but I don’t drink coffee. Or tea, really. I do my best to stick to water. Or lemonade. Caffeine does nasty things system! Any caffeine I get comes through my chocolate addiction.

  17. Deana Dick

I don’t drink coffee. I prefer hot chocolate with peppermint creamer.

  18. Patricia MacDonald

I just happened across your interview Lenora. Awesome as always. Can’t wait to read your new book. Hope to see you in person again one of these days.

I take my coffee strong with cream. Lots of cream. I take my tea hot.

  19. Merry

I don’t drink coffee but I do like english breakfast tea and hot chocolate
