I’m so pleased to welcome Lenora Worth to the blog today!! Lenora and I met in Nashville last year at the ACFW conference (first, in an elevator where we talked about my book bag… I didn’t recognize her. Face palm.) and she’s so sweet and fun to talk with!
Lenora Worth writes fiction for Harlequin’s Love Inspired and Superromance, Gilead Publishing and sweet romance for Tule Publishing. Her LIS “Body of Evidence” made the NY Times Bestseller list in Mass Market Paperbacks and she is also a USA Today and Publishers Weekly Bestselling author. “Bayou Sweetheart” was nominated for an RT Reviewers Choice Award. Three of her books have been nominated for the ACFW Carol Award. Lenora has written over 70 books and has an estimated 3 million books in print. She loves cheesecake, shoe shopping, walking on the beach and reading.
Lenora’s newest book, Her Lakeside Family, released February 1st from Love Inspired.
A Home for the Single Dad
Landing a renovation job for a wealthy Millbrook Lake client is a coup for contractor Davina “Dani” Connell—one that could give her business a much-needed boost. But Santo Alvanetti could be trouble in more ways than one.
Dark, brooding and distractingly handsome, this recently widowed father of three is surrounded by sadness and shadows, much like his home. All good reasons not to become emotionally involved.
They may be complete opposites, but there’s something irresistible about Santo. Dani’s determined to give him and his children the new home and future they deserve.
But could she also be the wife and mom they need?
Hi my friend! I’m so honored to be chatting with you today! I start all of my guests out with a fast four:
Lenora: Hmm. Used to be apples but I like oranges, too. Because every night while we are watching television, my husband peels one of those cute little oranges and gives me half. Then he peels another one and gives me half. So now I love oranges. 🙂
Carrie: Awwww that’s so sweet!!!
Lenora: Summer–jasmine, sweet tea, long walk at dusk, the ocean, sunshine, etc, etc.
Carrie: I’m a winter fan but I do love the ocean!
Lenora: I have always loved cats because they are so self-sufficient and quirky.
Carrie: Zuzu (my dog) would like for me to point out that she too is quirky. Notice how she ignored the ‘self-sufficient’ part 😉
Lenora: Coffee. Straight-up, shaken not stirred!
Carrie: Haha!!! Just call you Worth. Lenora Worth.
Around here I like to say that reading is my superpower. If YOU had a superpower, what would it be?
Lenora: Peacemaker! I believe in love and peace and live and let live!
Carrie: We could use a lot more people with that superpower!
When you walk into a bookstore, where do you head first?
Lenora: Oh, that’s like a kid in a candy store! Look at all the pretties! I like the remainder table for research books and of course, I have to check out the romance section and the Christina fiction section! And I always visit Jane Austen.
Carrie: I always visit author friends at the bookstore, too. I smile at them and pick them up and make sure they’re facing out. I’m sure bookstores love me. LOL.
What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever Googled while researching a book?
Lenora: I had to research alligator wrestling! My heroine in Body of Evidence was an animal rescuer and she had alligators on her rescue farm in Texas. There was a scene where she wrestled and muzzled an alligator with the Texas Ranger hero watching in panic. That was fun!
Carrie: hahahaha!!! Show that Texas Ranger how it’s done, girl! Love it!
In Her Lakeside Family, you continue the Men of Millbrook Lake series. Dare I ask – who is your favorite man of Millbrook Lake? 🙂
Lenora: Oh, my. I loved all of them but Hunter was the one who gave me the idea for all five books. He’s in Lakeside Peril, book four. I met him in real life in a biker bar in Oklahoma. I don’t hang out in biker bars but we were visiting a friend who owned one. This man was sitting out on the deck by himself, looking away out into an open field. I thought hmmm, what’s his story. Hunter needed his story told!
Carrie: I love hearing stories like this, of the “real world” inspirations behind characters and stories! Everybody has a story, don’t they? Just a matter of finding someone to tell it. 🙂
Dani Connell and Santo Alvanetti, your protagonists in Her Lakeside Family, are complete opposites. Without giving away spoilers of course, what are some of the ways they are different from each other? And, what attracts each to the other person?
Lenora: Well, Santo is brooding and grieving and she’s spunky and gung-ho. I think she sees his lost soul and I think he wants what she has, happiness. He’s impressed with her ability to see the big picture and that her faith is so strong. She kind of rescues him and his adorable children.
Carrie: A brooding hero… sounds like my cup of tea!
What do you most want readers to take away from Her Lakeside Family?
Lenora: That life isn’t always easy and tragedy can destroy a family, but God is always watching and guiding us.
Carrie: Yes. Amen.
Lenora, thank you so much for taking time to talk with me! 🙂 Before we say goodbye for today, tell us what‘s coming up next for you.
Lenora: Oh, I’m so excited about what’s next. Some hints–A Navy SEAL and Amish country!!! In one book!!! Thank you so much for inviting me to visit. You know I love you!!
Carrie: You know I love you right back!! 🙂 And … uh … can I read that book right now please?? I’m so intrigued!
