She’s bent on fun.
He’s bent on faith.
Till true love bridges the gap.
Cat O’Bryen is the prodigal daughter unhappy with God. First, the father with whom she reconciled dies of cancer and now her twin sister and best friend marries, leaving Cat at home with a newlywed mother, her new husband, and a little brother. But when Cat moves in with a roommate of questionable morals, her family is worried, certain she’s on a path that could damage her faith forever.
Reluctant to get involved with a woman like the one who destroyed his life, ex-Navy SEAL Pastor Chase Griffin steers clear of the attraction he feels for Cat O’Bryen. Until her family begs him to take her under his wing, hoping he can draw her back into the fold. But when the draw she has on him proves too strong to resist, he must rely on the strength of God to offer a friendship as steady and strong as the God whose love is wooing her home.

“…sometimes love isn’t safe, but if He’s involved, it’s always worth the risk.”
Once again, Julie Lessman has delivered a captivating romance that is both unapologetically passionate and unapologetically spiritual. She’s not the ‘Passion with a Purpose’ author for nothing 😉
In His Steadfast Love, we catch up with the O’Bryen family in all their wedded bliss. Except still-single Cat is not exactly blissful about everyone else’s marital happiness. Combine her dissatisfaction with her anger at God and you have a volatile combination.
Pastor Chase Griffin, ex-Navy Seal, is determined not to get involved with anyone who reminds him of his former girlfriend, but he promised his best friends that he would look out for their sister Cat. Combine his growing attraction for her with Cat’s wild side … and once again you have a volatile combination.
Into this fireworks-ready ‘pastor and the prodigal’ setup, Julie Lessman adds some mega-hot kisses, intense emotion, and a powerful message of God’s steadfast love. She doesn’t shy away from tough issues, from emotion, from rebellion, or from passion. But she also doesn’t water down the message of Jesus in any way. And in the process, we are introduced to delightful characters that set up camp in our hearts. Besides the O’Bryen family and friends, there is Miss Lilly who is perhaps my new fave Julie Lessman character. In the words of Cat herself, Miss Lilly is a hoot! I adored her feisty no-nonsense approach to both Chase and Cat, and her heart made me want to reach inside the pages and HUG her tight. (While I’m inside the pages, I’m going to take a detour and purse whomp Cat’s boyfriend Cooper with the heaviest book-laden bag I can find. Fair warning.)
Bottom Line: His Steadfast Love will hit you in all the feels. You’ll laugh, grin, cry, get angry, and – of course – SWOON. Along the way, you’ll fall in love with the O’Bryen circle and even with Jesus – whether for the first time or all over again. You can read this novel as a stand alone but it’s best to go back and start from the beginning of the series. If you’re looking for stories that present the messes of life against the backdrop of redemption – with a hearty dose of stick-your-head-in-the-freezer passion, this series is for you!
(I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.)
My Rating: 5 stars / Fantastic!
KissingBook Level: 5 / Read this from the safety of the nearest freezer.
