As part of the Litfuse Blog Tour for The Pretender, I am pleased to welcome Ta’Mara Hanscom to the blog today!
Born and raised in South Dakota, Ta`Mara loves to write about the Great Plains and the beauty and people of Italia. While her husband and children manage their two pizza ristoranti, Ta`Mara works full time on The Caselli Family Series, and ministers to women. It is Ta`Mara s prayer that as the readers explore the truths in these volumes, they will come away with a new perspective on love, forgiveness, obedience, and God’s plan for marriage.
Her book, The Pretender, released in September of 2017.
South Dakota: 1975. Eighteen-year-olds could order 3.2 beers in a bar and loaded guns were kept under the counter. Frankie Valli sang My Eyes Adored You, and American soldiers returning from Vietnam struggled with their new reality.
It’s within this tumultuous season of American history that Tillie Caselli meets Noah Hansen, and they are never the same again. Their lives were mysteriously intertwined – and had been for many years – yet they had no idea.
From the moment they met, Tillie and Noah wanted to spend the rest of their lives together, but a deliberate omission will keep them apart—and that same omission will be responsible for the escape of a murderer, and a bride’s deception.
Hi Ta’Mara! Welcome to the blog!
Ta’Mara: Apples. Crispy!
Ta’Mara: Winter. I love snow, and Christmas.
Carrie: Me. Too.
Ta’Mara: Dogs. They are faithful.
Carrie: They so are ♥
Ta’Mara: Espresso. I like strong flavors.
Carrie: Which is why I don’t like espresso haha!
Q: Around here I like to say that reading is my superpower. If YOU had a superpower, what would it be?
Carrie: That can have so many meanings, can’t it? Strength of body, of mind, of heart, of spirit….
Q: Who is your favorite book character from childhood?
Ta’Mara: Nancy Drew.
Carrie: She is definitely at the top of my list, too!
Q: What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever Googled while researching a book?
Ta’Mara: Climate and environment in Syria.
Q: Describe your main characters, and tell me who you would cast in their roles if Hollywood wanted to produce The Pretender as a movie!
Ta’Mara: Noah Hansen is a simple man, yet highly intelligent and kind. I think Liam Hemsworth would do nicely in the part of Noah.
Tillie (Angel) Caselli is young, yet grounded in her faith. Victoria Justice would be great in that part.
Giuseppe Caselli, Tillie’s father. He’s a good man, and very protective of his daughter. Tony Danza would be perfect.
Carrie: All great choices!
Q: What surprised you about The Pretender or your characters as you wrote their story?
Ta’Mara: The plot told the story of Salvation, and I never saw it until my husband pointed it out.
Carrie: I love when things work out that way!
Q: What do you most want readers to take away from The Pretender?
Ta’Mara: That there are consequences for every decision/action; that we should think before we react and that just because something doesn’t look like what we’ve been praying for doesn’t mean that it’s not what God intended.
Carrie: So true!
Thank you so much for taking time to talk with me! 🙂 Before we say goodbye for today, tell us what‘s coming up next for you.
Ta’Mara: The second print edition of the next book in our series, Pit of Ambition, will release on October 25, 2017.
