Review: A Refuge at Highland Hall by Carrie Turansky

Review: A Refuge at Highland Hall by Carrie Turansky

Carrie Turansky, Christian, historical, romance 2

World War 1 Flying Aces and German Zeppelins zoom across the pages of A Refuge at Highland Hall, the challenges of war meticulously researched and creatively conveyed. The beginnings of new love spark for two couples in this story, tempered by the separation of war – be it by deployment or internment – but allowing the power of the written word to fan the heart’s spark into a steady and enduring flame is truly the stuff of great romance! My favorite of the Edwardian Brides series, A Refuge at Highland Hall is best appreciated if read in context (the characters!!) though it can also be read as a standalone.

Review (and a Giveaway!): Like a Love Song by Camille Eide

Review (and a Giveaway!): Like a Love Song by Camille Eide

Camille Eide, Christian, contemporary, romance 6

Like a Love Song went straight for my heart. The characters, their histories, their futures, the setting, the plot. All of it spoke to me on a level that went beyond the romance and aimed steadfastly toward Jesus. Joe and Sue’s love story was, of course, a highlight of the book for me – it was cute, sweet, and even breath-stealing on occasion. But in all honesty, it paled in comparison to this truth that Camille Eide framed so gorgeously: God’s love never fails.

Review: On Lone Star Trail by Amanda Cabot

Review: On Lone Star Trail by Amanda Cabot

Amanda Cabot, Christian, contemporary, romance 1

I have so enjoyed this series, and I am sad to see it come to an end – but On Lone Star Trail gave it the perfect sendoff. Amanda Cabot included all of the elements that make the series so entertaining while adding a few new twists as well! (While this is the third book in the TEXAS CROSSROADS series, it’s not necessary to have read the other two first.)

Romance When You Need It

Now, y’all know me & you know that my values don’t exactly line up with a lot of Harlequin novels 😉 BUT there are several Harlequin imprints and authors that I do support. Plus, I thought this video was super cute, especially for those of us who tend to collect book boyfriends lol.

Review: The Cowboy’s Bride Collection

Becca Whitham, Christian, Darlene Franklin, Davalynn Spencer, historical, Jaime Jo Wright, Miralee Ferrell, Nancy J. Farrier, romance, Susan Page Davis, Susanne Dietze, Vickie McDonough 1

Jaime Jo Wright’s writing voice makes me smile, and the bits of humor she threaded through The Cowgirl’s Lasso made that smile even wider. From the dime novels to the spider attack – even the nod to pal Erica Vetsch’s The Legend of Obadiah Walker – you will find plenty of reasons to smile too!

Review: Cold Shot by Dani Pettrey

Christian, Dani Pettrey, mystery/suspense, romance 9

Dani Pettrey’s first offering in her new series is inventive, action-packed, and extremely well-written. Cold Shot bursts onto the scene with brilliant suspense and compelling characters that make it nearly impossible to put down. In fact, if you are at all prone to biting your nails when tensions are high, you may need to schedule a manicure once you’ve finished reading this novel!

Review: Your New Money Mindset by Brad Hewitt & James Moline

Review: Your New Money Mindset by Brad Hewitt & James Moline

Brad Hewitt, Christian, nonfiction 0

I don’t know that I would recommend this book just by itself, as I think it would ultimately frustrate someone that genuinely wants to get out of debt or manage their finances. However, I do think it’s an important resource to use alongside other financial planning tools – to help you assess your attitude toward money and see why you feel financially insecure and/or unable to give as generously as you wish.

Review (and a Giveaway!): Always Watching by Lynette Eason

Christian, contemporary, giveaway, Lynette Eason, mystery/suspense, romance 69

Lynette Eason’s latest suspense offering is fast-paced, action-packed, and full of grace. Her writing talent is more than evident in the natural dialogue, the tension, the vivid characters. While romance is definitely present in the story, it never overshadows the suspense, making this an ideal choice both for people who do love kissingbooks and those who don’t.

There are so many great opportunities to grin while reading Kissed By A Cowboy, the final book in the Four of Hearts Ranch series by Debra Clopton.
