Fictional World Travel Challenge

Hosted by: Between Library Shelves

Today’s challenge is to list 3 to 6 books of fiction that take place in countries other than the one where you currently reside. I’m excited about this one because I’ve read so many wonderful books that are set in other countries, and I can’t wait to introduce you to them 🙂

The Thorn Bearer by Pepper D. Basham

(England)

Thornbearer

Safely Home by Randy Alcorn

(China)

Safely Home

For Such A Time by Kate Breslin

(Czechoslovakia)

*Personal Note: This book has been the subject of some controversy lately but I would encourage everyone to read it for themselves before forming an opinion.  Controversy can lead to discussion, which can lead to healing.  Hate, however, leads to nothing productive. The hate being directed at this book and its author saddens me greatly. We as readers should have better words at our disposal. ~Carrie*

for such a time

The Butterfly and the Violin by Kristy Cambron

(Poland)

Butterfly and the Violin

The Healer’s Apprentice by Melanie Dickerson

(Germany)

healers apprentice

Five Days in Skye by Carla Laureano

(Scotland)

Five Days in Skye

What are some of your favorite books set in other countries?

THanks for the shout out! What an honor to be listed with such AMAZING authors!!!! Carla? Kristy? Melanie? Kate and Randy? Whoa!

    • I love that I can travel around the world through everyone’s lovely books 🙂 Thanks so much for commenting, Kate!! I appreciate you!

Thanks so much for your comment on my post! I really like your picks even though I’ve only read two of them (The Butterfly and The Violin, The Healer’s Apprentice.) I did enjoy them both and I just got Five Days in Skye from my local library, really looking forward to reading it! Happy Reading, Caitlyn 😀

  3. Great choices! Whenever I think of a book set in another country I always think of Daughter of Smoke and Bone, which was one of my choices. I just love Taylor’s descriptions of Prague and Morocco. Thanks for sharing and visiting my blog!
