Cassidy was looking for a home and a place to belong . . . not for a cowboy to steal her heart.
Having lived through her parents’ endless string of “matrimonial bliss gone wrong,” Cassidy Starr knows when the odds are not in her favor. Divorced and humiliated, her faith on rocky ground, Cassidy is through with love. She’s been bucked off that horse far too many times. Instead, she returns to Wishing Springs, Texas, and the rundown farm she’s inherited from her great aunt Roxie. She’ll reopen the strawberry farm and a bed & breakfast and follow in her aunt’s footsteps, remaining forever-independent, happy . . . and single.
Rancher Jarrod Monahan’s hands are full running the ranch, looking after his ailing grandfather, and chasing down a group of rustlers on the loose. He’s pushed his longing for a family to the bottom of his list of priorities. Besides, he was in love once but ran scared and lost his shot at happiness. But suddenly, the biggest regret of his life has moved in next door with a wounded heart, determined to become a spinster . . . and that’s a challenge that Jarrod can’t pass up.
Jarrod sets his mind to breaking down the walls around Cassidy’s stubborn heart. How can he show her that a cowboy’s kiss lasts forever? For the good folks of Wishing Springs, falling in love has never been so much fun to witness.
Other Books in the Series:
There are so many great opportunities to grin while reading Kissed By A Cowboy, the final book in the Four of Hearts Ranch series by Debra Clopton. From the quirky residents of Wishing Springs to some Monahan brotherly ribbing to Jarrod’s drawling dreaminess, be prepared to smile. A lot. And when Jarrod sets his mind to wooing… well, best have your fainting couch handy. This book will end up on my next KissingBooks 101 syllabus. Mark it down.
Jarrod and Cassidy have a history – both would call the other “the one that got away”. This history between them only increases their chemistry, which evidently hasn’t lost its spark. You could practically hear the spark and sizzle in the air right from their first shared scene. The fact that Cassidy spends most of that scene half in and half out of a doggy door – with Jarrod talking to the … uh … back end – is your first clue that their heat comes with just the right amount of humor.
Speaking of humor, the ladies of the Cut Up and Roll beauty salon are as hilarious and endearing as ever. Between their drooling over Jarrod and their inability to stay out of everyone else’s business, they are a hoot and a half.
I am still twitterpated over Jarrod. His drawl. His steadfast pursuit of Cassidy. His lazy grin. His love for Pops. His kisses. A certain … um… shirtless… scene. Whew. He’s a gentleman, of course, but Cassidy does bring out the playful rogue side of him. That combination in a cowboy? Lethal to those of us who collect book boyfriends.
Bottom Line: As a fan of the Four of Hearts Ranch series, I’ve been waiting for Jarrod’s story. I wasn’t disappointed. Debra Clopton’s wit and talent shine in this fitting farewell to the Monahans. (Though this is the third book in the series, it isn’t absolutely necessary to have read the other two.) The electricity between Jarrod and Cassidy will keep a grin on your face and a swoon in your heart. Kissed By A Cowboy is fun, entertaining, and romantic! If you like Denise Hunter or Becky Wade, you’ll enjoy Debra Clopton’s books too.
(I received a copy of this book in exchange for only my honest review.)

4.5?! This sounds like my TBR is about to grow by another author’s backlist 😉
Haha!!
Turns out, as I was adding this series to my TBR, I’ve read some shorter historical fiction by Debra Clopton (and liked it!). 😀
Yay!
This series was the first I’ve read by her!
I think you would enjoy her novellas An Ever After Summer (A Bride For All Seasons) and especially A Cowboy for Katie (Four Weddings and a Kiss). They are out individually as ebooks and in print or ebook in the collections. Both collections include novellas by Mary Connealy, Margaret Brownley and Robin Lee Hatcher. Mighty fine company to be in!
Oh – you know what? I have read both of those haha! Clearly I need to re-read them 😀
That is funny!
This sounds great. I must put some “just good fun” books in my burgeoning TBR pile. 😀
Oh yes. “Just good fun” books need to be in everyone’s TBR piles 🙂
