first line fridays

It’s Friday again! (FINALLY!)

Time to grab the book nearest to you and leave a comment with the first line!

Why don’t I go first?

Today, my “first line” is from Rachelle Rea’s The Sound of Emeralds, which released TODAY!!!

And the first line is…

“Though ours was not the love story I would have written for myself, I would not have had us any other way.”

(P.S. – check out my interview with Rachelle Rea from earlier today!)

So… what’s your First Line on this Friday?

Luther and Katharina by Jody Hedlund
It’s so good! I love her historicals!

ahhhhhhhh I have this one somewhere in my TBR pile. NEED. TO. READ. Excited for the next one too!

ok… i feel like i should know this one… and i also feel like because I don’t i should hand in my book blogger credentials… 😉

      • I’m re-reading a classic, so I’m sure you know it but it would be harder to come up with off the top of your head. It’s North & South by Elizabeth Gaskell

    “I think it’s a woman.”

From The Carpenter’s Daughter by Jennifer Rodewald (also released today!!). (*Such* a good–and heartbreaking–book!)

  3. Aww…y’all are so sweet! 🙂 Okay, here’s mine.

It starts innocently enough–two boys whispering, the sound of feet scuffling in the background, someone laughing, a hissed command to be quiet. ~ A Reason To Run by Christina Coryell

“The music played in the background while the charity’s benefactors finished their dinner.”

This one from Darlene Franklin’s “Small Town Bachelor” (Heartsong Presents line):

“Verify Clark was running late. Again.”

  6. Emilee Douglas

The Sound of Emeralds sounds really good. My first line is…. “Big Warrior Totka Hadjo, reluctant to take the familiar path, came to a slow halt, stopping when his feet touched the grasses that butted up to the forest’s edge”.
The Sacred Writings,(Beneath the Blackberry Moon #2)by April Gardner. This series is sooooo good. Add it to your TBR list!

I just finished this one last night, but it was the closest,

“How in the world had rain earned such a romantic rep?”

  8. Marilyn

Elsie felt in better spirits in the morning; her sleep had refreshed her,and she rose with a stronger confidence in the love of both her earthly and her heavenly Father.

  9. “Sometimes I stare out my bedroom window, find the North Star, and wonder if it’s shining down elsewhere – on the life I was supposed to live.”

From I’ll Be Yours by Jenny B. Jones, my current read!

  10. Winnie Thomas

“PhD was NOT supposed to smell like this.” I’m sure you’ll guess this one, Carrie! Yep, I just happened to have A Twist of Faith by Pepper Basham near me, because I may or may not have been gazing lovingly at the cover. 🙂 I think I can truthfully say that this is the first book I ever purchased just because of the cover! Of course, I love the story, too, but I’d already read it when I just had to buy the print book so I could admire the cover art!
