When you enter the Readers Appreciation Giveaway, you are entered for a chance to win Janet’s debut novel Leaving Oxford!

Escaping home to Oxford, Mississippi, seemed like a good idea. Until it wasn’t.

A year after a tragic accident in Los Angeles flipped her world upside down, advertising guru Sarah Beth LeClair is still hiding away in her charming hometown of Oxford, Mississippi. And she may well be stuck there forever. Suffering from panic attacks, she prays for healing. Instead, her answer comes in the form of an arrogant football coach and an ugly puppy.

Former celebrity college quarterback Jess McCoy dreamed of playing pro football. One freak hit destroyed his chances. Although he enjoys his work as the university’s offensive coordinator, his aspirations have shifted to coaching at the highest level. His plans of moving up are finally coming together—until he falls for a woman who won’t leave town.

As the deadline for Jess’s decision on his dream career looms, the bars around Sarah Beth’s heart only grow stronger. But it’s time to make a decision about leaving Oxford.

  1. Hi Janet! This prodigal agrees with you too. I’m excited about Christian Fiction and I’m looking forward to reading Leaving Oxford!

    • Hi Annie! Great to see another prodigal who has come home! I love Christian fiction, and I hardly read out of genre any more. I like to protect my mind. I hope you like Leaving Oxford!!

  2. Bree Herron

Janet, this has been on my TBR list. I love the synopsis of the book. Do you have any projects coming up?

    • Hi, Bree! This is actually the first book of a series…and it only gets better! (I’m one of Janet’s critique partners so I get the pleasure of reading ahead!)

    • Hi Bree! Yay for being on someone’s TBR list!! I’m so honored!! Yes, book 2 of the series is coming out June 15. I’ve already drafted 4 books in this series. I hope you like it!

Thanks Angela (my awesome critique partner) for chiming in! I forced myself to go to exercise class…

Hello Janet, I love reading prodigal stories. They give me hope for the ones I’m praying for.

Janet and I have something in common. I am currently serving as a director of children’s ministry; I wonder if her office looked as much like a Mast General Store as mine does? This sounds like a great story!

    • Hi! That is soooo funny! The other ministers used to make fun of my office. It was such a weird conglomeration of STUFF. Praying blessings for your really important ministry in God’s Kingdom. What you do is so important. BTW The staff really made fun of my van, too. There was no telling what I was hauling around…

As I read Janet’s bio, I felt an instant connection. I used to work in the banking industry, I am the children’s ministry director at my church and I volunteer with the youth. Wow! I would also love to write a book someday. When I was in school, my teachers encouraged me to write. I hope to have the time and inspiration to fulfill that dream

    • Hi Connie! I thought I was the only one with such a weird assortment of careers, ha! Praying God’s blessing over you as you work with young, tender hearts!! I hope you find time to write, too, and add another career on your list!

  6. Winnie Thomas

  7. Hi Winnie! So fun to meet you too!! Every time I hear I’m on a TBR list, I get giddy! I hope you like it! If you do, God gets all the glory. If not, blame me, ha!

  11. Debbie Clatterbuck

My TBR just keeps growing and growing. Looking forward to reading this one, too.

    • Hi Becky! I’m new all together! This is my first book to be released! I’ve already drafted the series though, so the new three should follow pretty quickly. Lord willing 🙂

  13. Andrea Stephens

This is too much fun! I am loving getting to know different authors. I will be adding this book to my wish list.

    • Thanks, Sarah! It’s a mix of serious stuff and humor! (Serious stuff is such a writerly way to say it…) Hope you enjoy it if you read it!! 🙂

  14. Trixi

Hi Janet! While not a prodigal myself, but one who had backslidden a few times as a new Christian (decades ago thankfully), I can relate to a point! I know the struggles to stand strong in the faith God has provided you are real. But I think about the reward waiting for me, the love God has for me, and the ONE sacrifice He made for me because of that love! How could I NOT stand strong when I’ve seen Him move in my life in small & profound ways that I can’t explain? Reminds me of the scripture; Ephesians 6:13 “Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, AND HAVING DONE ALL, TO STAND”

    • Hi Trixi! Awesome points! I love that you used that scripture. I’ve been doing the Bible study on the armor of God. It’s been a great reminder for me of the battle we’re in and the tools he gives us. He does move in small & profound ways!! Blessings!

    • Hi Audrey! I love your name! That was my grandmother’s name and I used it for the young heroine in my third book called Tackling the Fields! Thanks for adding me to the exponentially growing list, ha!

    • Hi Dianne! I’m new to everyone, and so excited to be on this giveaway with such stellar authors! Yes, I squealed a little when I was asked! I hope you like Leaving Oxford!

  15. Becky Smith

We have roots & relatives in Choctaw County in Mississippi. Sounds like a great book and LOVED your interview!

    • Hi Becky! So cool to have another Mississippi connection! It’s such a small interesting world here, ha! You’re so sweet to say you loved my interview!! I hope you enjoy Leaving Oxford!

  16. Pam Graber

Oooooo!! Love the premise of your book! You are a new-to-me author, too. Would enjoy getting to know your author voice.

    • Hi Pam! I love that you love the premise 🙂 Thank you!! I am new to everyone since this is my debut novel. I hope you enjoy my voice. Mississippians are a little bit different, but we are okay with that, ha! Blessings

  17. Carla Moore

I love that you have turned Leaving Oxford into a series. I feel once I start reading I will not want to stop. I married the high school qb an I have panic attacks an I have visited Biloxi so I can relate to a few things in your novel. At 51 I’m looking for love but letting GOD show me my intended.Thank you for sharing.

  18. Hi Carla! I married my high school football center, ha! But we didn’t get together until we were 27. I also have panic attacks which is what let me to write this book. I wanted to encourage others that they aren’t alone in that and also they are still useful in God’s kingdom. Mental disorders sadly carry a lot of shame and embarrassment. I decided to just put mine out there, and I’ve met so many others suffering from something similar.

That’s cool that you went to Biloxi! I had 3 roommates from the coast. My 4th book is set in Mobile, AL and I’ve written a short novel set in Ocean Springs, MS, all in that area. Not sure when they’ll release. Anyway, all the places I set my stories in so far are HOT AND HUMID like where I live!

I said a prayer for you just now.
    Blessings

    • Hi Karen! Football is big in Mississippi, so it wasn’t too hard to research. If you like athletes, my third book coming out early fall will have more. Thanks for saying hello!

  19. Sonnetta Jones

I love it when an author tackles the issue of mental illness. My new subject for reading is football. I do not yet fully understand small towns and football but I love to read about them.
    Best wishes on your writing.

    • Hi Sonnetta! Leaving Oxford tackles all of the above. I tried to make it realistic with some humor, because that’s how I roll. Have to laugh sometimes even in the hard times. I hope you enjoy Leaving Oxford!
