about the book

Fifteen-year-old Bobby Jenkins wakes up one morning in Naples, Texas, to find the power out, no phone service of any kind … and his parents dead in their bed. Panicked, he runs to the neighbor’s house for help… only to find him dead as well. The only vehicle he can get started is the old diesel Ford tractor and as he heads for town he’s met with an eerie silence.  No cars, no people, and no sign of human life at all.

Eventually, he does encounter one girl he knows from school and a mother & son in town. Their families? Also dead. The police? Dead. All the people at the Quick Stop? Dead.

As the same scenario plays out all over the United States, the 1% who survived need to figure out a way to stay alive. Surviving without modern technology is harrowing enough but surviving each other may be the toughest obstacle of them all.
