Reporter Madison Coles wants to write an exposé on the crime spree rocking Desert Valley, Arizona—but the small town’s residents and police are tight-lipped.
Even when Madison herself is attacked, the only help she can get is protection from rookie K-9 officer James Harrison and his trusty bloodhound.
Suspicious of the reporter’s motives, the handsome cop keeps her at arm’s length. But the more Madison’s life is threatened, the more focused she is on finding the truth—and the closer she gets to James.
Can he help her find the story without them both ending up in the obituary pages?

“Madison Coles did not trust anyone else. And tough K-9 cop James Harrison could not trust himself.”
Oh my goodness, this is such a fun book!! I love Dana Mentink’s sense of humor and while I saw hints of it in Seaside Secrets (the book I reviewed yesterday) it was out in full force in Seek and Find! And it can basically be summed up in one word: Hawk.
“Maybe I should have requested a nice German shepherd. They don’t eat backseats.”
Hawk, the rookie K-9, stole the show. And every scene he was in. And even some scenes he wasn’t in. Yanking whoever happens to be holding his leash wherever he wants them to go. Always on the prowl for any food left within easy access. Or something to chew on. He’s not overly picky.
But he IS a darn good tracker. And if all the rookie K-9s in his unit are as skilled as Hawk, the Desert Valley PD is in good hands … uhh… paws.
Zuzu found him absolutely entertaining, by the way, though she’s much too ladylike to engage in the same shenanigans. She does, however, harbor secret dreams of one day going into law enforcement so dogs like Hawk and Boomer are pretty much her celebrities.
Bottom Line: Seek and Find will have you smiling and chuckling, for sure, but it will also find you biting your nails in suspense or swooning at the deliciously sweet romance. A fantastic mystery with unexpected twists and turns, danger around every corner, and a sleepy town full of people you aren’t sure you can trust. Oh, and did I mention the romance? And the humor? Seek and Find is everything I love about Dana Mentink’s writing – funny, cute, swoonworthy, and suspenseful. Make sure you add it to your “must-reads” TBR pile ASAP! And… don’t leave it around where Hawk might decide to chew on it 😉
(I received a copy of this book in exchange for only my honest review.)

Dana Mentink lives in California where the weather is golden and the cheese is divine. Her family includes two teen girls (affectionately nicknamed Yogi and Boo Boo.) Papa Bear is retired from the fire department and he met Dana doing a dinner theater production of The Velveteen Rabbit. Ironically, their parts were husband and wife.

Her suspense novel, Betrayal in the Badlands, earned a Romantic Times Reviewer’s Choice Award. She is honored to write for Harlequin’s Love Inspired, Harlequin Heartwarming, and Harvest House Publishers. Besides writing, she busies herself teaching third grade. Mostly, she loves to be home with Papa Bear, Yogi, Boo Boo, a dog with social anxiety problems, a chubby box turtle and a feisty parakeet.

What about you? Do you have any quirky pets? What do they do that makes you smile?
I just love that cover dog! Saying no to my kids’ pet requests is wearing on me.
haha!! What kind of pet do they want?
They are so desperate it’s been reduced to “mammal.” The most persistent kid favors a dog or a guinea big.
Guinea pig, not guinea big. Pet size is an issue in our house.
LOL!
hahahahaha!
My Suzie’s patient persistence has finally paid off, she’s made friends with our 3 kittens! Little Kissy kitty is actually a bit overly friendly at times. It’s not easy but he’s always trying to walk under his Westie buddy. It’s pretty hilarious because Suzi has a personal bubble and usually flips out!
hahaha! That picture is adorable in my head 🙂
Carrie I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your review and couldn’t agree with you more about Hawk! He steals the show, paws down!
Have you read Dana’s “Sit, Stay, Love”…I’d say she hit her stride with dogs in her books, don’t you? I surely can’t wait for her next installment “Fetching Sweetness” releasing August 1st! I’m sure to fall in love with a new canine 🙂
Yes!!! I love that book & I absolutely agree with you – definitely hit her stride with dogs and their quirks lol. She writes them so well!
