Hi friends 🙂
I hope you are having a marvelous Sunday so far!
Today on the Book Club, let’s share our favorite bookish quotes. It can either be a fave quote from a book you’ve read or a quote you really like about books or reading in general.
Mine is without a doubt – almost without contest – from C.S. Lewis’ classic novel The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. Mr. Beaver is talking to the Pevensie children about Aslan and he describes him like this,”Safe?… Who said anything about safe? ‘Course he isn’t safe. But he’s good. He’s the King, I tell you.”
Oh how I adore this quote. I adore it as a description of Aslan and I absolutely head-over-heels adore it as a description of my Jesus. He never called us to be “safe” or comfortable, but oh dear heart. Never forget that He’s good. Even when life isn’t. Because, no matter what seems out of control, He is King and in the end He wins.
I love this quote so much that I did a happy dance when I saw that Jamie over at Books and Beverages had it as one of her literary key rings in The Shoppe. And so of course I grabbed one right up. (I’m not an affiliate or anything of Jamie’s…. I just love her Shoppe and I’m pretty sure at this point my house could double as an annex for it, should she ever be in need of one lol)
Ok, now it’s your turn! Share your favorite bookish quotes – from or about our beloved books – in the comments! If you’re in need of inspiration, check out my Bookish Quotes pinterest board 🙂
I love your Bookish Quotes! Here’s one for you.
They say DIAMONDS are girls best friend?
Tell that to my BOOKS!
I recently saw this one on Amanda Barratt’s Facebook page.
Of course I prefer life in books! Where else can I meet Darcy, live in a Manor house…and never wash another dish?
hahaha! I love it!! Yes!
This is my second favorite (after the one you just mentioned) of Lewis’s great quotes:
I have found a desire within myself that no experience in this world can satisfy; the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world.
Yes!!! Oh I love that one too
Love that one, too, DeAnna! It’s so brilliant and true.
I love C.S. Lewis quotes! There are so many, but today, I’ll pick a part of his writing that really impacted me: (Aslan)”I will wait here. Go and wake the others and tell them to follow. If they will not, then you at least must follow me alone.”
That brings tears to my eyes, Janet. Yes!
I love C.S. Lewis! Bookish quotes I’ve seen around… If you don’t love to read, you just haven’t found the right book yet OR it only takes one great book to become a lifelong reader.
I’m not very good at isolating a singular quote from what I’ve read. It would be like picking a favorite freckle, they are a collective masterpiece! Perhaps this is a skill I will develop over time…
I’m terrible at remembering quotes from books I’ve read recently. But occasionally one will just really stick with me.
Oh gosh! I have no ideas….I love Albus Dumbledore quotes though. Especially “Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, as long as one remembers to turn on the light.” I thinks that was right hahahA!
Dumbledore has some of the best quotes too!!!
