It’s FRIDAY!! This week. A week of Mondays. So glad for Friday to finally be here!

Since it’s Friday, it’s also time to grab the book nearest to you and leave a comment with the first line!

The book I’m featuring today is The Thirteenth Chance by Amy Matayo. (Check out my review here)

Since in the book Olivia has an aversion to all things 13, I thought we’d make her twitchy by giving the first line from either Chapter 13 or page 13 (or location 13) – whichever floats your boat.

And the first line from CHAPTER THIRTEEN is….

“When I was five I had a fascination with perfume bottles.”

So… what’s your #13 First Line on this Friday?

Let me know in the comments and then head over to share your First Line with these friends:

  1. This looks like a good one. I added it to my TBR list not too long ago. 🙂

    My first line…

    November 1846
    Southern Oregon Trail

It was a land of timber, challenge, and trepidation, forcing struggles beyond any she had known, and she’d known many in her sixty-six years.

  2. Becky Smith

“A soldier lay on top of him, but William was too weak to push him off.” From The Saratoga Letters by Elaine Marie Cooper

  3. Winnie Thomas

Yay! 13 is my lucky number–I was born on Friday the 13th!

“Cade, however, remained, his gaze firmly on her. ‘You’re meaning to go head-to-head with me?’ He looked at her as though she were plumb out of her mind.” The Sheriffs of Savage Wells by Sarah M. Eden.

And yes, I know that is more than one line. I was actually going to quote 13 lines, but I thought that would be a bit excessive. LOL

Polly’s day off dawned the way the previous day had: realizing with a start, that she’d slept later than she’d intended.
“The Nanny’s Little Matchmakers” by Danica Favorite.
A book I won from Keli Gwyn’s Love Inspired Historicals blog. 🙂

SWEAT HOT AND SALTY flowed into Errol’s eyes in the sticky heat of the early fall afternoon. The Hero’s Lot by Patrick Carr

    HAPPY WEEKEND!

  6. HUGS for your long week, Carrie! It’s a little cruel to pick on Olivia but I’m sure her OCD has come down several notches, thanks to Will 😉

    Chapter 13
Three more men were added to their prison.
Newton and Polly by Jody Hedlund

  7. Eliza

I’m late reading this post but the book I’m currently reading is Wolfskin by Juliet Marillier and the first line is “Winter bites hard in Rogaland.”

  8. Better late than never right? Haha! This weekend was crazy! But here is my first line of chapter 13 “Dr. Hudson’s prophecy regarding the next patients proved true.” The Thorn Keeper by Pepper Basham. JUST finished….ahhhh….going to need a week to process now.
