I’m happy to be participating in the Litfuse Blog Tour for Keith Korman’s book Eden: The Animals’ Parable by welcoming Keith to the blog for a Q&A!
Keith Korman is a literary agent and novelist. Over the years he has represented many nationally-known writers of fiction and non-fiction at his family’s literary agency, Raines & Raines. The idea for Eden first came to him as a child when he saw the little calf jump across the stable in the prelude to William Wyler’s Ben Hur. And he’s been thinking about it ever since.
Keith’s book, Eden: The Animals’ Parable, released April 2016 from Liberty Island
“Ask the animals, and they will teach you.” -Job 12:7
Experience the Gospels in a way that you never imagined.
In this beautifully inspired retelling of the Gospels, we see Jesus and his disciples in the Holy Land through the eyes of the animals—especially his intrepid and loyal dog, Eden.
With a wise, old donkey, innocent lambs, and legions of curious field mice—the animals follow their master’s journey across Galilee and onto Jerusalem, rapt with awe and wonder and bearing great tidings—even if they don’t fully comprehend the divine events they witness.
Welcome to the blog, Keith! I start all of my guests out with a fast four:
Keith: Both. Yin and Yang.
Carrie: I think you’re the first person to answer ‘ both’ … i need to research that!
Keith: Fall. Spectacular, fleeting.
Carrie: Fall is such a beautiful season!
Keith: Both are virtuous.
Carrie: another diplomatic answer… lol.
Keith: Both. You can’t write on Whiskey.
Carrie: ha! This is true… though many have tried.
Around here I like to say that reading is my superpower. If YOU had a superpower, what would it be?
Keith: I have no Magic Secrets, Character is my magic secret – Anonymous Samurai, 14th century
Books are kind-of a big deal around here. Other than the Bible, what are five of your most cherished books?
Keith: Wind in the Willows, 1984, Down and Out in Paris and London, Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Logan’s Run.
Carrie: I think a trilogy is cheating a little… but I’m not really one to talk considering that my Top Ten Tuesday lists are usually more like Top Twenty….or Thirty.
If I asked your characters to describe YOU as an author, what would they say?
Keith: Oh, Please Lord, save me from this Madman.
Describe your main characters, and tell me who you would cast in their roles if Hollywood wanted to produce Eden: The Animals’ Parable as a movie!
Keith: EDEN the loyal Dog: Milla Jovovich. SAMSON the wise, old Donkey: Kurt Russell. Herd of LAMBS: the cast of MOZART in the Jungle.
Carrie: I love that! I would go see it!
What surprised you about your book or your characters as you wrote their story?
Keith: That it fell together at all. I always figure the Almighty let me do the last one, but never guarantees the next.
What do you most want readers to take away from Eden: The Animals’ Parable?
Keith: That redemption is within everyone’s grasp. I’m all about second, third and fourth chances.
Carrie: Yes! Amen. Redemption is my theme song.
Keith, thank you so much for taking time to talk with me! 🙂 Before we say goodbye for today, tell us what‘s coming up next for you.
Keith: A novel on my experiences in Show Biz. A thriller, Bosnia, Dubrovnik, Rhone Valley, Aspen. Skiers, gangsters and spies.
Carrie: Now I want to know if this is all in one book or spread out LOL.
