On Tour with Prism Book Tours.
Lawman in Disguise
Getting taken hostage by a gang of train robbers wasn’t in dime novelist Essie Vanderfair’s plans, but interviewing these men could make her career soar. Especially since the gang includes legendary outlaw Tex Beckett, better known as the Texas Titan. Tex is famed for his protection of women and children, so she’ll be fine…right?
Keeping the gang in line was hard enough before a stubborn, beautiful writer interfered. Now Tex is scrambling to keep Essie safe, to gather evidence against the gang and most of all to hide his dangerous secrets. First, that he’s a detective working undercover. And second, that he’s not the Texas Titan at all, but Tex’s twin brother, Tate Beckett.

“Real life was never as interesting as fiction.”
Oh y’all. You’re gonna love this book!
A wide-eyed, determined dime novelist finagles her way into being held hostage by an infamous gang of train robbers so she can interview them for her next book.
I could probably stop there and you’d have a great idea of how funny parts of this book are. Essie is just so cute, and the dime novel she writes in her head along the way is lots of fun.
But there’s a hitch that changes everything – she’s falling in love with the man she believes to be the notorious Texas Titan. A man who is actually Tex’s twin brother Tate, an undercover detective with the Pinkertons. The romance between Essie and Tate is sweet and tender – with lots of great chemistry and a couple of fantastic kisses too 😉
While it starts out lighter and more humor-filled, as the novel progresses and Essie interviews the various members of the gang, the mood of the book shifts slightly to one of poignancy. Each outlaw is there for a reason, rarely just because they want to make trouble, and their stories of tragedy will make you want to research other infamous outlaw gangs of history to learn their stories as well.
Bottom Line: The Outlaw’s Secret has it all – action, adventure, romance, humor, faith and depth. It will make you smile and it will twist your heart too. It will make you hold your breath – for the kisses and again for the nail-biting action. Essie is such a fun heroine, and Tate is most definitely swoonworthy. Another fun and sweet novel by Stacy Henrie that I highly recommend!

Looks like a good book. I would love to read it.
Thanks, Angela!
Love the review! I’ve had this on on my wishlist for a little while now, so, not your fault this time Carrie 🙂
I’ve been to Wyoming, driven through Wyoming many times. It is beautiful country.
So fun to hear this one’s been on your wishlist, Andrea! And I’m with you – Wyoming is pretty country.
hahahaha! Ok good… I’m always afraid y’all are going to mutiny on me eventually for all the books I add to your TBRs 😉
Never Carrie! I think I speak for all, we LOVE your reviews and suggestions. Even if they do add to the TBR 🙂 We love you.
awww I love you too! 😀
I absolutely love Pinkerton detective stories, add a western gang and a handsome cowboy and I am 100 percent sure that I will love the story.
Thanks, Rebecca! 🙂 I’m fascinated with Pinkerton detectives myself. If you’re into non-fiction, The Greatest Detective is about one of Pinkerton’s most famous detectives James McParland and was a really interesting look into the life of a detective agent.
Got the title wrong on that Pinkerton non-fiction book – sorry about that. It’s actually called Pinkerton’s Greatest Detective by Beau Riffenburgh.
i found it 😀
i am 100% sure you will too!
I love historical fiction and especially the romantic kind. I would love to win this giveaway, but if not, I will get these books and read them. Thanks for the giveaway and good luck everyone.
Thanks for entering, Debbie! I hope you get a chance to read all three books.
it would be totally worth the purchase!
I adore Stacie Henry and I can’t wait to read this book!!! Plus the cover is just kinda awesome! HAHA
And of course I mean Stacy Henrie. HAHA I *always* do that!
hahahaha I DO TOO!!
Hi, Amber! I love the cover too. In my mind, Tate looks like actor Scott Eastwood and I think they captured that rather well with the cover. 😉
oooo Scott Eastwood is always a good choice 😀
Thanks so much for your lovely review, Carrie! I love that after reading the book you wanted to go research the backstories of other real life outlaws. 🙂 I find their stories fascinating too and how they reveal some of the deeper reasons, even if not justifiable, for choosing the outlaw life that they did. Thank you for reading this one!
I found that so fascinating too!!
Thanks for the fun review, Carrie! We forgive you for adding to our TBR piles/mountains, since we can count on you to recommend good reads for us, and you’re diligent about warning us about eyeball-scorching things. LOL Stacy, this book sounds so intriguing. I’m putting this on my wish list. Congratulations and good luck on your tour!
Thank you, Winnie! So fun to hear it sounds intriguing. 🙂
heehee thank you dear BFFF 🙂
Outlaws plus the dime store novel element *and* a Level 3? I’m glad this is already on my Want to Read list 🙂
Yay that it’s already on your Want to Read list! 🙂 Thanks, Yvette.
haha Yvette – I love that my KissingBooks rating holds some sway 😉
The Outlaw’s Secret is another book to add to my ever growing “want to read” list. It sounds like it will be really fun to read; just what I like. Thanks for letting us know about this book and for the giveaway.
Thanks, Pam! These characters were fun to write. 🙂
Can’t wait to read it! I have a story of my own (Writing stage) centering around Jesse James so you could say I have quite the fascination with Train Robber stories at the moment.
Amanda, that sounds like a fun book!
ANY Love Inspired Historical belongs on my bookshelf 🙂 And I’ve long had my eye on this one, thanks for the chance to win a copy!
And I’ve been blocked on @burgandyice so I can’t take that entry 🙁 No idea why.
oh no!! I’m so sorry! I’m not sponsoring this giveaway – it’s hosted by Prism Book Tours. I’m sure if you shoot them an email, they can clear it up for you.
Thanks Carrie! I’ll shoot them an email 🙂
HAHA….you won’t believe this, but I blocked that person not the other way ’round!! I have no idea when or why or how that happened *scratching head*
