Can his safe haven be enough for her?

Emma Meadows never imagined that sticking to her principles against an act of corruption by a New York senator would cost her her job as VP of communications. Heartbroken, she retreats to her cottage in the Adirondacks to lick her wounds and, in the process, rescues an injured dog that only Josh Whitmore can save.

The veterinarian works diligently to bring dog and woman back to full fighting form, until allegations against the senator become more serious. Seeing Emma’s reaction to the increasing pressure, Josh realizes that inevitably she’ll find a way back to the top…and he’ll likely lose her for good.

Take a Tour through Emma’s Cottage with Me!

I’m thrilled to be visiting your blog today with Sanctuary Cove, the first of my three 2017 releases, and to be able to take you on a tour of the heroine’s cottage!

Sanctuary Cove is the story of New York-based communications executive Emma Meadows, who finds her personal and professional life in shambles. She retreats to her lakefront cabin in a small town on the edge of a lake in the Adirondack Mountains region of the state of New York. Aiding an injured animal at the side of a rain-drenched road, she meets local veterinarian Joshua Whitmore. Gradually, Josh’s charm and persistence overcome her defenses. But when Emma’s past abruptly intrudes—putting reputations and even lives at stake—it threatens everything she and Josh had begun to build together.

Emma’s cottage is situated on a large, secluded property, on a knoll overlooking a small, private lake. The location looks like this . . .

The windows you see in the next picture belong to the two-and-a-half-story great room.

Emma loves the seclusion of her property. This is the rock in the clearing where she likes to sit and think.

This is the view she has from the rock. The lake is just on the other side of the cottage. The windows facing the garden belong to her kitchen. She loves the 180-degree view she has while she’s cooking.

And this is a picture of one of Emma’s gardens edging the forest. She enjoys working in her gardens, and has put a lot of time and effort into them to ensure she has flowers blooming from spring to fall.

This is the stone path skirting the kitchen.

The next picture is of Emma’s bedroom, with the windows to the right overlooking her lake. The view from her bedroom is spectacular!

. . . and this is her bathroom . . .

This is Emma’s main-floor guest bedroom that she converts into her office. The wallpaper on the top half of the walls has little birds on it; when she first saw it in the store, she couldn’t resist buying it.

And this is her great room, overlooking the lake, the gardens and the forest. The couch faces the fireplace. She loves to sit by the fire during the winter months.

This is Emma’s kitchen, overlooking her driveway and forest. She enjoys being able to look out the windows while she’s preparing meals, and the wood-burning fireplaces makes the room toasty warm in winter.

Emma hopes you enjoyed your tour through her cottage. She’s proud of it, especially since she did a lot of the work fixing it up herself. Do the pictures help you understand why—even without factoring Josh into the equation—she’s determined to stay in Sanctuary Cove and in her cottage?

Josh and Emma, along with their dogs Max, Theo and Winston, would love to have you visit Sanctuary Cove and spend some time with them. I hope you’ll enjoy the trip!

Thank you, again, for the opportunity to visit your blog today.

Happy reading!

  1. Thank you for having me back at your blog, again, Carrie.

All that’s missing from those pictures (especially the outdoor ones) is you and Zuzu, me and Harley and Logan, spending time with Emma, Josh and their pups. 🙂

Best wishes for a terrific day!

      • Winnie Thomas

I’m with you, Carrie! It looks perfect! I might have to start listening to audiobooks, though, so I could “read” which I walk around and explore and enjoy the scenery!

  2. Winnie Thomas

Ummmm. . . I thought a cottage was supposed to be small! I guess this one could be a large cottage. LOL I love it though–it’s gorgeous! Could we have a reader’s retreat there?

    • I’m glad you like it, Winnie. Great minds think alike, because that’s exactly what I’ve been saying about a readers’ retreat. Are you okay with friendly dogs?

      • Winnie Thomas

Yes, I’m okay with friendly dogs, as long as they don’t knock me over with their friendliness. I’m thinking with a cottage and surroundings that beautiful, I might be torn between the reading and the enjoying of the view and surroundings! And depending on who the other readers were, I might be busy socializing, too! But what fun!! 😀

  3. Dianne Casey

I like the beautiful setting of Emma’s cottage. It is secluded and has amazing gardens and great views of the water. What’s not to like?

  4. Kay Garrett

I love her kitchen! Looks not only warm and cozy but very functional. I, too, love to bake and could only imagine how great it would be to cook and bake in a room with such a great view.

    • It really is a beautiful kitchen, isn’t it, Kay? It’s wonderful to be able to look outside wherever you are!

It’s especially cozy in the winter, when everything is covered in a blanket of white and the wood-burning stove casts a warm glow over everything in addition to making it feel all toasty warm!

I’m glad you liked the tour, and I wish you good luck with the giveaway!
