about the book

Have you ever considered your life as an audition?

Regardless of who or where we are, we are constantly, often unconsciously, auditioning for a part. Loving wife. Amazing employee. Crafting queen. Socialite. All we really want is to be loved, affirmed, and accepted.

What if we could learn to live the life we have always been auditioning for without all the stress?

Chasing Famous is a redemptive book that teaches us how to take the focus off ourselves and shift it back on to the glory of God. Written by a professional actress who readily admits that she is the most self-centered person she knows, Chasing Famous provides practical and sometimes humorous examples of scriptural truth that will help you master the natural self-centered tendencies of life.

Once you’ve mastered these issues, and you can, your story will turn the spotlight on God where, you’ll soon discover, what it means to truly live.

“So let’s live wild, let’s live brave / And may we not miss our divine potential / Let’s get reckless / Cause you were born for this.”

Lloyd pin1Y’all this is such a great book! From the pretty cover to the interior design to the engaging writing style and most importantly the theme, Chasing Famous by Lisa Lloyd is an excellent choice for personal devotions or small group study.

It’s divided into three sections: Your Story for the Splendor of God, Your Gifts for the Glory of God, and Your Every Day for the Eminence of God. Chapter titles reflect the author’s acting experience – “The Cast List”, “Booking the Job” and “The Aside”, to give an example from each section. Each chapter is full of Scripture and ends with “Questions to Consider” that are really good at prompting both self-reflection and group discussion.

I especially liked Chapter 8 “Find Your Light” because it gives a helpful (and practical) list of questions to ask yourself as you try to determine how God has gifted you, what you were born to do. Another meaningful chapter to me is Chapter 9 “The Go-See” for these particular words:

God isn’t concerned about my number of blog followers, whether I publish countless books… But God will hold me accountable for making Him famous while I live…

Bottom Line: Chasing Famous by Lisa Lloyd is engaging and honest (I so appreciate her willingness to be vulnerable), and it gives us the freedom to abandon our own pursuits at fame and to channel that energy into making God famous instead. This is definitely a book I’m going to reread and incorporate into my daily walk to fully savor.

(I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which i received from the publisher. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.)

My Rating: 4 stars / Love it!
