Excellence in Indie Publishing GIVEAWAY Guest Post: Misty M. Beller

The Excellence in Indie Publishing Giveaway wraps up today (hasn’t it been such fun?!?) as Misty M. Beller talks about waiting for God’s timing!

I have a tendency to step out ahead of God sometimes. It’s a habit God has worked with me on for years now. So in 2015 when I began hearing more and more positive things about Indie Publishing, I knew I needed to slow down and pray thoroughly about the possibility. At that point, my first novel had been contracted by a small traditional publisher, and I was receiving positive feedback on my second manuscript that I had submitted to agents. It seemed that God kept nudging open doors of encouragement, yet when I tried to walk through them, the door would close.

What are you trying to tell me, Lord? I prayed that question more times than I could count. But with each closed door with traditional publishing, and each positive conversation or blog post I read about the possibilities in indie publishing, a peace gradually began to settle in my heart. Indie publishing was just beginning to lose some of the stigma assigned to self-publishing within the publishing industry. Creditable Indie authors were rising from the ranks of unedited books to prove that self-published didn’t have to mean second-rate.

So with much prayer and some apprehensive excitement, I stepped into the world of Amazon’s KDP ebook publishing platform and print-on-demand books.

And I’m so thankful I did! God has taken these books in ways I never would have imagined, and every day I thank Him for His continued working. I don’t know whether this is the path He will always have me take, but I’m doing my best to seek His will and listen for His leading. And sometimes that requires me to step on my own toes so that I don’t step ahead of his timing. But I know beyond a doubt that His plan will be worth it!

Misty M. Beller writes romantic mountain stories, set on the 1800s frontier and woven with the truth of God’s love.

She was raised on a farm in South Carolina, so her Southern roots run deep. Growing up, her family was close, and they continue to keep that priority today. Her husband and daughters now add another dimension to her life, keeping her both grounded and crazy.

God has placed a desire in Misty’s heart to combine her love for Christian fiction and the simpler ranch life, writing historical novels that display God’s abundant love through the twists and turns in the lives of her characters.

As part of the Historical Fiction Excellence in Indie Publishing giveaway, you can win a prize pack of books, including A Pony Express Romance by Misty M. Beller!

After growing up as an orphan, Josiah English wants nothing more than to have his own ranch and raise Arabian horses. Riding for the Pony Express seems like the ticket to his dream. And when he meets the stationmaster’s beautiful sister, it seems he may be within reach of the happy life he craves.

Mara Reid is thrilled to finally meet the man of her dreams, and the fact that they both want to raise horses in the Sweetwater River valley seems like confirmation straight from God.

But when the Express shuts down and Mara’s family home is in peril, the danger looming over Mara’s life may not be half as destructive as that threatening her heart.

  4. Misty is amazing! She’s a great writer, business woman, and friend! She’s been my indie mentor, and I couldn’t have done it without her. She talked me down off a number of formatting ledges, ha!
