Please join me in welcoming Lynette Eason to the blog today, as part of the Harlequin/Love Inspired Summer Blog Tour with TLC Book Tours!
Summer is here. Actually, summer has been here for a couple of months. At least according to the calendar. I don’t get outside much these days because it’s so stifling. Truly, I like summer. I just don’t like the heat. If I could keep the school break, the cookouts and fun family times, and get rid of the blazing heat, I’d like summer a lot better.
As it is, since I live in the south, I tend to hibernate during the months of May through August. Sometimes on in to September and October, too. Let’s just say, I don’t do anything that doesn’t have air-conditioning! LOL. But no matter whether you like or dislike summertime, there is always the to-do list.
Summers are supposed to be slower, less busy than the school year, but I guess we didn’t get the memo. Since my family’s lifestyle lends itself to a frantic pace all year long, we have to make a conscious effort to slow down and enjoy life.
Some of the things we do are: take a family vacation, cook a meal together, have mother/daughter or father/son time. The guys like the movies. Us girls lean more toward lunch and shopping. Sometimes, we simply ride up into the mountains and enjoy the cooler temps and the incredible scenery.
Occasionally, we head to Dollywood, which is a theme park in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Other times, we stay home and have game night. We play card games like Phase 10 or we break out the Scrabble board. All of these things are fun and build memories that will last a lifetime.
Sometimes, it’s really hard to do this. Especially when there’s a deadline looming. But we’re only on this earth a short time and our kids need us to show them that it’s okay to have fun and enjoy life. I don’t believe you can put a price on that! So, slow down and enjoy your summer by spending it with those you love!

ON A KILLER’S TRAIL
While on a mission to bring his sister’s killer to justice, bounty hunter Riley Martelli spots a missing FBI agent in a Colorado national park. When he calls in the tip, he’s joined in his search by Special Agent Harper Prentiss.
Harper, aided by her faithful German shepherd, is determined to locate the missing agent…without falling for the charms of the handsome bounty hunter. Working together is the best option to find their targets, but it also doubles the danger they’re in.
With a killer looming large, poised to end their search for good, can Riley and Harper unite to find both men without becoming the next victims?

What about you? What’s your favorite summer activity?
Reading on the back porch. Watching the birds. Having grandkids over.
Perfect!!
except maybe for the bird thing 😉
Going for a drive up the canyon and perhaps a short hike. I also love being with my family at our cabin or at my house. I like sitting on my porch swing with a good book, reading and enjoying the scenery.
that sounds just about perfect 🙂
Can an activity be doing nothing? 🙂
I love to sit on the front porch, fan going, enjoying a good book, sipping on a cold drink and enjoying being retired. We have lots of wildlife from bird, squirrel, raccoon, deer that I love to watch. They say we have bear but hope I’m inside when they come to visit. Love to see them but would prefer glass between us when I do. LOL
i think that’s wise lol
My favorite summer activity is when my house if full of teenagers, and everyone is crammed round my kitchen table playing Nerts (a very fast card game). I love the laughter and the energy. It seems we have more time for this in the summer than the rest of the year.
oh how fun!!
This summer, we had a Marvel movie marathon (via DVD), starting from Iron Man to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. We even saw Spider-Man Homecoming in the theaters. Fun!
how fun!!!
