I am delighted today to introduce y’all to Sara Jane Jacobs and her series, The Seasons.

Sara Jane lives life Coram Deo along the Emerald Coast of Florida with her cat, Selah (and Selah’s adorable offspring). She enjoys being with family and pretty much anything that involves the great outdoors. One of her favorite ways to relax is spending the day with her grandsons, Noah and Elias. She lives a short drive from the beach and considers frequent trips to put her feet in the sand a necessary part of routine health maintenance.

You can connect with Sara Jane on her website, Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram and Twitter.

Her new book, Season of Deception, released August 7, 2017.

Three lives ensnared by one woman’s masterful deception…

Phoebe Garrison will stop at nothing to steer her niece, Amanda Jarvis, away from the newly discovered affections of her childhood friend, Tyler Armstrong, His Navy SEAL career path is a far cry from the high-society lifestyle Phoebe envisions for Amanda.

And when billionaire J.E. Bridwell tries to protect Amanda from her aunt’s controlling nature, Phoebe doesn’t miss the opportunity to use his interference to her advantage.

She comes up with a plan that is sure to break Amanda’s devotion to Tyler, sending her right into a future with one of the world’s wealthiest bachelors and giving Amanda the kind of life Phoebe feels that she deserves.

Hi Sara Jane! Welcome to the blog! I’m honored to have you here 🙂

Sara Jane: The honor is all mine, Carrie! It’s a huge thrill for me to have this opportunity!

apples or oranges

Sara Jane: Oranges! It’s a treat to slice open a juicy orange on a warm, sunny Florida day. (If I had grown up in my North Carolina birthplace with regular access to my grandma’s fried apple pies, I probably would have answered that differently ?)

Carrie: haha!

winter or summer

Sara Jane: Summer! Shorts, sandals, spontaneous drives to the beach, the warm sun, those long days, stargazing, the 4th of July! I could make a very long list!

Carrie: Well.. you live in Florida so I won’t hold your answer against you 😉

dogs or cats

Sara Jane: My feline roommates might shun me if I get this wrong so…cats! I’ve had some great dogs over the years, but I am currently without a dog (although there might be another one in my future).

Carrie: ooo that sounds promising!! Dogs are awesome (my canine roommate insists I issue that disclaimer every time)

coffee or tea

Sara Jane: Tough choice! I love a creamy cup of coffee, but tea feels healthy and comforting! My herbal teas are especially soothing when I’m not feeling my best. Tea wins.

Carrie: I’m not a fan of either … but I recently discovered a tea I do like! My almost 40-year-old self feels very grown up now lol.

Q: Around here I like to say that reading is my superpower. If YOU had a superpower, what would it be?

Sara Jane: I always thought my answer to this would be flying but since I’ve started focusing on my writing, my answer is writing extremely fast! I have so many stories I want to tell!

Carrie: Writing while flying would be really something though, wouldn’t it? 😉

Q: When you enter a bookstore, where do you head first?

Sara Jane: Lol, after that feeling of wanting to move in five different directions at the same time lifts, and I can form a thought, it’s probably the non-fiction section. I like to read about new ideas on time-management, getting organized, health, staying motivated – whatever jumps out at me.

Carrie: Oh i’m so glad someone else knows that feeling!

Q: If I sneaked a peek in your purse right now (which I would never do, I promise!), what would it tell me about you?

Sara Jane: That I travel light! My wallet, pepper spray, maybe a pack of gum, and I’m good to go. And of course, my cell phone. I also carry a spare key to my truck. Just in case.

Carrie: I wish my bag was so light. Unfortunately, no matter how much I empty, it’s still full. Must be the Mary Poppins brand haha!

Q: Season of Deception is the second book in your Seasons series. Can you tell us a little bit about the characters and what has brought them to the beginning of book two?

Sara Jane: Amanda and Tyler have grown up together as best friends in the mountains of North Carolina. While Tyler has stayed on track with his plans to become a Navy SEAL after graduating high school, Amanda’s journey has been unexpected. After her college plans fall through, she agrees to spend the summer in New York working at her aunt’s advertising agency. This leads to an unexpected modeling opportunity that Amanda accepts to help her pay for college. But once her Aunt Phoebe becomes involved in her career, things really begin to spin out of control. Tyler is deployed, Amanda continues to play into Phoebe’s hand, and the Season of Deception begins.

Carrie: ooo I can already tell Aunt Phoebe and I are going to have words!

Q: Which actors would you cast as Amanda Jarvis, Tyler Armstrong, and Aunt Phoebe if Hollywood wanted to make your series into a movie?

Sara Jane: I love that you asked this! After I finish a story, I love to play casting director. I even have the “cast” on Pinterest boards ?. My current picks are Amanda – Bailee Madison; Tyler – Luke Benward; Aunt Phoebe – Lori Loughlin. That one might seem strange because I think Lori Loughlin is always nice and sweet. But for me, there’s something about Phoebe that you just really want to like! I think Lori Loughlin would be perfect. I can totally see her being lovely and likable and then deceptive and manipulating!

Carrie: It’s always the characters (and people) like that who you have to watch out for!

Q: What do you most want readers to take away from Season of Deception?

Sara Jane: Well, there are glimpses of forgiveness and selfless love that I hope will be thought-provoking. There are also some very subtle red flag moments for a few characters. In my own life, I have learned the hard way not to ignore that lack of peace. But even when we fail to listen or we simply miss a turn, God is there to help us get back on track!

Carrie: I heard Andy Stanley say (more than once) that we need to remember to ‘pay attention to the tension’. So thankful that when I don’t, God is still patient with me ♥

Thank you so much for taking time to talk with me! 🙂 Before we say goodbye for today, tell us what‘s coming up next for you.

Sara Jane: There will be at least one more Season. It will probably be written as a standalone now that some loose ends have been tied up in Season of Deception. This time it will be about Hannah, who was mentioned briefly in book two. And thank you, Carrie, for allowing me to chat with you! It has been a pleasure!

Carrie: The pleasure is mine! Come back any time!

Sara Jane is offering a copy of BOTH ebooks in The Seasons series to one of my readers. Open internationally except where prohibited by law. This giveaway is subject to Reading Is My SuperPower’s giveaway policies which can be found here. Enter via the Rafflecopter form below.

  1. Thank you again, Carrie! I really enjoy your blog, so it was a huge thrill for me to be a part of it today! (I’ll need to update my bio! We welcomed little Moses into the world early this morning. Just in time to watch the sunrise 🙂

  2. Perrianne Askew

I carry everything but the kitchen sink! This would be a new author for me & that’s ALWAYS good. Thank you for the giveaway opportunity.

  3. Lindsay

For now I carry a diaper bag, but when I carried a purse my main requirement was that it had to be big enough to carry a book (or two or three 😉 ) because you never know when you will get a moment to read!

  4. Evangeline

I am a travel light person. Because I am petite, I feel overwhelmed with the large bags, but I could use more space in the small bags I carry. Sometimes they are too light…I need things I don’t have! ???

  5. Penny Mooney

Thank you, Sarah Jane. I really enjoyed getting to know you. I guess I am like Mary Poppins. I have everything but the kitchen sink in mine. lol Thank you for the chance. xoxoxo

  6. Winnie Thomas

I’m kind of middle of the road with my purse. I don’t like it to be too heavy, but I like to have things handy when I need them. Lately, I’m tending to go more light than I used to. I probably wouldn’t be a good purse-whomper right now. I might not be able to get anyone’s attention!

Yay! A new-to-me author! This book sounds intriguing!

  7. Vivian Furbay

Season of Deception sounds like it has a lot of twists and turns and leaves you wondering what will happen next. Want to read both books.

  8. Shannon

I used to have a big purse, but recently I’ve down sized. I’m trying to make it so I can actually find what I have in my purse. It’s still big enough to have my kindle inside. Can’t leave home without that! 🙂

  9. Sonnetta

I like to have any array of things in my purse for just in case. I do not understand the meaning of traveling light.

    Congrats on the new book!
