I’ve gotten to know today’s guest a little bit as we tend to congregate in the same Facebook groups and share several mutual friends. And I’m looking forward to getting to know Andrea even better today as we chat about her new book!

Andrea Boyd is the author of Christian romance. The Kingdoms of Kearnley trilogy falls into the category of fantasy. Heart’s Desire is her first attempt at romantic comedy.

Besides writing, she loves spending time with her family, quilting, going to car shows, and driving around in her 1968 Barracuda convertible.

Andrea lives with her husband, Tommy, and at least a couple of cats in York County, SC.

You can connect with Andrea on her website, Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter.

Her new book, Heart’s Desire, released November 1, 2017!

A romantic comedy set in the south, Heart’s Desire shows what can happen when God is allowed to take the lead.

When Aiden Weaver allows the Couples Committee to pick his date to the New Year’s Eve ball, he promises himself it will only be a one-time deal. After one failed marriage, he isn’t interested in another long-term commitment. His resolve starts to crumble when he meets his date, Bailey. For whatever reason, his heart keeps pulling him back to her long after the dance is over.

Between her momma, who is determined to set her up with every man she comes in contact with, and her best friend, who seems set on sabotaging her every effort, Bailey Foster wonders if she is meant to be alone for the rest of her life. She’s determined to take it slow and let the right man come to her the next time—if he even exists. Despite her reservations, hope is rekindled when she meets Aiden and his two little girls.

Hi Andrea! Welcome to the blog!

apples or oranges

Andrea: Apples. Hello, Apple Pie a la Mode! You can’t do that with oranges.

Carrie: LOL you speak much truth.

winter or summer

Andrea: Summer. I hate being cold.

Carrie: I’m exactly the opposite. I hate being hot!

dogs or cats

Andrea: Cats. We have the same personality.

Carrie: hahaha!

coffee or tea

Andrea: Coffee. I’m Southern, so sweet tea is still on the menu, but I can’t function without coffee. I’ve been told I wake up every morning without a brain and find it at the bottom of my first cup.

Carrie: LOL i’m that way with my diet coke.

Q: Around here I like to say that reading is my superpower. If YOU had a superpower, what would it be?

Andrea: Time travel.

Carrie: I think I would love to have that superpower too. I think.

Q: Which books are currently ‘on your nightstand’?

Andrea: An Inconvenient Beauty by Kristi Ann Hunter, Loving Luther by Allison Pitman, and Where We Belong by Lynn Austin.

Carrie: all excellent choices!

Q: Writing spaces are as diverse as authors and books. Where is your favorite space to write?

Andrea: My “office.” I use that term loosely because even though my writing space has a desk and computer, it also houses a sewing machine, quilt frame, and all the trappings that go along with quilting. And, I also restore old cars, so there is a stack of car parts in the corner.

Carrie: Ok well that’s totally cool! Quilting, writing and restoring old cars!!!

Q: Heart’s Desire is a southern romcom with a matchmakin’ momma, a meddlin’ best friend, and a New Year’s Eve ball! (Sounds right up my alley!) What is your favorite romantic comedy movie?

Andrea: You’ve Got Mail. I’m not even sure what the appeal is, but I will never get sick of watching this movie.

Carrie: Me. Too. And also While You Were Sleeping.

Q: Aiden and Bailey are a couple picked by committee, as it were ? Describe their personalities for us.

Andrea: Aiden is a good guy with the capacity to love deeply, but harbors bitterness against his ex-wife which has caused trust issues when it comes to women. Bailey has been hurt too, but she’s still hopeful that the right guy is out there.

Q: Which character do you most relate to?

Andrea: I’m not really like either one of them. (If I could choose between all the characters in this book, I am the most like Aunt Ginger.) But I have shared an experience with Bailey. My first marriage ended abruptly not long after it began, and I had been clueless.

Carrie: Ugh. I’m so sorry that happened to you ♥

Q: What do you most want readers to take away from Heart’s Desire?

Andrea: Of the feedback I’ve gotten so far, readers have said that it made them think differently about forgiveness. Reading for the sake of entertainment is great, but if I can point to God’s teachings in a way that touches my readers, my ultimate goal has been met.

Carrie: I love that. Yes.

Thank you so much for taking time to talk with me! 🙂 Before we say goodbye for today, tell us what‘s coming up next for you.

Andrea: Look for Irresistibly Yours in March. It is a contemporary romance set near Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Here’s a short blurb- One bad marriage was enough for Vivian Emerson. She could happily stay single for the rest of her life. But Bo Manning has other plans. Will she be able to resist his efforts to woo her?

Carrie: ooo yay!

Andrea Boyd is giving away a paperback copy of Heart’s Desire to one of my readers! (US only) This giveaway is subject to Reading Is My SuperPower’s giveaway policies which can be found here. Enter via the Rafflecopter form below.

I love You’ve Got Mail. I also love Serendipity, but I’m not sure it’s technically a romcom. I also like Knotting Hill. I have too many favorites, lol.

  2. Rebecca Maney

I am totally with Andrea. My husband rolls his eyes and leaves the room every time “You’ve Got Mail” shows up. I cannot begin to count how many times I have watched it.

I have also watched “27 Dresses” a gazillion times, because it was me . . . . I was a brides maid for everyone else before I met my own Prince Charming.

Haven’t watched a rom-com in years. Did love Princess Bride, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Sweet Home Alabama….

  4. I loved The Princess Bride, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Sweet Home Alabama, and I used to really enjoy Hart of Dixie- the TV series. I don’t know if it’s still on or not.
