“The world suddenly seemed off-kilter, as if nothing made sense.”

I love the Love Inspired Suspense line – quick, fast-paced reads packed with lots of breath-holding suspense & action plus a sweet romance as well. In Primary Suspect, we get all of this plus a great group of supporting characters who have been featured in the previous books of this series. (Don’t worry, though. I haven’t read the other 4 books and I didn’t feel lost at all. I do however want to go back and play catch up because I really liked the Callahans.)

The book starts out with a bang (over the head. Poor Mitch) and keeps the tension high until the very end. Just when you think it’s safe to relax a little, don’t. Dead bodies keep piling up, as well as some startling evidence, and the author has crafted a great atmosphere of suspense that holds your attention all the way through the story. On the run. Trying to avoid being caught by the police or by the people who are trying to kill them. Never sure who will show up next, or what danger they will have to dodge. In fact, you may find yourself holding your breath more than once – and not just from the great kisses.

Speaking of those kisses, though… I loved the layers to Mitch and Dana’s relationship; yes, they had just reconnected after three years, but the fact that they had such an emotional past connection adds to the chemistry between them now. The emotionally-taut, high-intensity situation in which they currently find themselves fuels the intensity of their feelings for each other too, making their  quasi-‘insta-love’ more believable for me than it might in other circumstances.

Bottom Line: Primary Suspect by Laura Scott is truly enjoyable from start to finish. The characters, the plot, the action, and the sweet faith thread that weaves through the story – all of it delivers a great story that will keep you glued to the page. An excellent choice for fans of law enforcement heroes, medical drama, and run-for-your-life romantic suspense!

(I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the publisher. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.)

My Rating: 4 stars / Love it!
