Hi friends! Any time Toni Shiloh has a new book out, I get excited! I love her settings, the way she deals with faith, and especially her characters. Today, we get a peek at the leads in Finally Accepted – Chloe & Darryl, two characters whose stories I’ve been waiting on since book 1 in the Freedom Lake series.
There’s only one thing Chloe Smith has ever wanted: family. Yet the DNA results she’s received have thrown her life into a tailspin. Her utmost desire has ended up being the catalyst for shaking her faith. She doesn’t even know who she is anymore, and she’s certainly too messed up for her longtime crush to give her more than a second glance.
Darryl Jones is struggling between his past and the grace God so freely offers. His sins feel too big for him to handle, let alone expect the woman of his dreams to accept. Chloe is the only woman he’s ever wanted and the one he doesn’t deserve.
As they form a tentative relationship and examine their faith, Chloe and Darryl ache to know they are finally accepted and fully loved.

Meet Darryl Jones
Age: 31
Description: Caramel brown skin, curly hair, stocky build.
Resembles: Corbin Bleu
Occupation: Pediatrician
Inspiration for character: Darryl is the laid back, fun loving guy of the Freedom Lake men. He keeps Evan and Guy from taking life too seriously and reminding them that friendship can overcome any trial.
Greatest struggle: is believing he’s doomed to repeat his father’s mistakes. He fears he’ll be doomed to perpetuate the cycle of abuse.
Goal in life: to rid himself of his sins and get the girl.
Quirks: Ruffling the top of his head when deep in thought.
Regrets: Read Finally Accepted to find out. 😉
The thing he most admires about Chloe: her steadfast belief in God.
The thing that attracts him the most about Chloe: everything.
Favorite Scripture: “…having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will…” – Eph 1:5 NKJV
Meet Chloe Smith
Age: 30
Description: Honey brown skin, curly coily hair, petite.
Resembles: Aisha Dee
Occupation: Interior Designer and owner of The Space.
Inspiration for character: When I first thought of the ladies of Freedom Lake, I wanted a woman who would balance out Jo’s tomboyish, pessimistic ways and Michelle’s prissy, saracastic character. Chloe is quiet, steadfast, and unassuming.
Greatest struggle: is not knowing her own worth. With parents who were absent and a crush on a man who seems to go for every girl but her, Chloe doesn’t believe anyone would truly want her.
Goal in life: To live a life of faith with a husband and family of her own.
Quirks: Has to wear a cardigan with every outfit.
Regrets: Waiting so long to find her birth father.
The thing she most admires about Darryl: The confidence in which he greets life.
The thing that attracts her the most about Darryl: His hair.
Favorite Scripture: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” – Phil 4:13 NKJV
