Top Ten Tuesday: Tales From the Backlist

Posted September 25, 2018 by meezcarrie in Christian, Top Ten Tuesday / 29 Comments

Happy Tuesday, my friends! Long time, no see! My apologies for that, but I was at the gorgeous (and insanely huge) Gaylord Opryland Resort for the 2018 American Christian Fiction Writers Conference (ACFW)! I’ll tell you more about this great experience and share some fun pics later this week.

But for now – it’s time for  Top Ten Tuesday & today’s theme is ‘Books I Haven’t Read Yet By My Favorite Authors’. Sadly, this list takes some narrowing down or we’d be here all year. Ironically, since Annie and I started JustRead, I have had very little time to ‘just read’ haha! So my backlist titles from my fave authors are piling up. Yikes!

I’m told the hero in Yesterday’s Tomorrow by Catherine West is quite yummy!

I love Shelley Gray’s books – Amish, western, and/or suspense – but I do well to keep up with her prolific frontlist every year, so this older The Heart of a Hero series is going to have to stay on the back burner for a while longer.

This is a more recent rerelease of an older title from Lynette Eason but the idea behind A Silent Terror – a deaf teacher as the heroine/targeted victim – has always intrigued me. Must make time soon!

Jody Hedlund plus colonial America? Why have I not read Rebellious Heart yet??

I adore Melanie Dobson’s time-slip novels & Chateau of Secrets is one from her backlist that i’m dying to read!

There’s just no excuse for me not to have read a Denise Hunter book. Sweetwater Gap, I will read you soon!

This Culper Ring series by Roseanna White makes me drool every time it pops up on my radar. Want to read so badly! Need more time!

Out of all the Elizabeth Camden books for me not to have read yet, Beyond All Dreams (about a librarian at the Library of Congress) taunts me the most lol

I was late to the Cynthia Ruchti game so I’m still trying to catch up with her backlist, especially All My Belongings which sounds fascinating and compelling.

My Stubborn Heart by Becky Wade is the single most “I can’t believe you haven’t read that yet!” title in my TBR list lol.

What about you? Have you read all of these books? Am I the only one who is behind?

    Hi Carrie!

I was nodding along with your post, agreeing with every choice…until you got to My Stubborn Heart by Becky Wade. It’s not only AMAZING, I think it may actually be voted into the official Literary Hall of Classics! (That’s a thing, right?) Truly, stop everything and READ that one! We’ll wait for you, promise! 🙂

Wow, you have some of my favorite stories sitting on your backlist. I loved that Rebellious Heart is loosely based on John and Abigail Adams. I still need to read Chateau of Echoes also.

  3. There just isn’t enough time to get all the great books in the Christian Fiction world read. I thoroughly enjoyed the Jody Hedlund and 1 of the Roseanne White books. The other two are in my TBR pile. We just have to keep after that pile.

“Sweetwater Gap” is one of my favorite books ever . . . . . as is “My Stubborn Heart”. Yes, I have read most but not all. After I read “Yesterday’s Tomorrow”, I couldn’t believe that Catherine West was not a household name. It’s magnificent!

My Stubborn Heart and Sweetwater Gap are two of my all-time favorites! Thanks for sharing your list with us!

  6. Oh my! I can’t believe you haven’t read My Stubborn Heart. Talk about swoon!! I hope you have or are recovering nicely from ACFW! Thanks for the ace reporting.

  7. I have that entire series by Roseanna, I’ve yet to read them. My daughter just picked up an entire 11 book series at the library KNOWING she’d be able to read them before they were due….I tell ya, I’m jealous of the day I could pick up 12 books and know I’d be able to get to them within 3 months! (As long as no one requests a book and we have to return them in a month, anyway)

  8. I will be honest Carrie, I am only familiar with two of your choices. Being a relative newcomer to Christian fiction, I may be referring to this list. I participated in this meme for the first time today as well.

You really, really need to read My Stubborn Heart. So funny, so poignant, so swoony.

And the Culper Ring series, Beyond All Dreams, and My Stubborn Heart are also all excellent–even after my painful, big book purge (which basically just transferred the books to church where I can keep an eye on them), I still made sure to keep all of these. I’m not very good at sharing my favorites.

Carrie, I didn’t know I was so far behind on my reading until you posted this! I can’t believe I haven’t read even ONE book on this list! *whimper* A bunch more books just went on my TBR pile! Yikes!

  11. Yesterday’s Tomorrow is amazing! Read it!! I share Chateau of Secrets. It’s the only book club selection I didn’t read. In 16 years of meeting. *hangs head in shame*

All of my favorite authors. BUT “My Stubborn Heart” is my TOP choice. It is my all time favorite book. I first checked it from my library. Loved it so much I bought the book and read it again 😉

I loved The Heart of the Hero series by Shelley Gray but I haven’t read any other of her books. I have also read the Culpepper Ring Series, My Stubborn Heart and Rebellious Heart. I haven’t read anything by Catherine West or Cynthia Ruchti. I need to check out those authors! I am still going through Elizabeth Camden”s books. I have read all but her 3 most recent. I have loved them all so far!

  14. Paula Shreckhise

I have read Roseanna’s, Elizabeth’s and maybe Lynette’s but I certainly need to catch up on each of their backlists. So many of Jody ‘s and Shelley’s on there. I have a Cynthia Ruchti just sitting waiting patiently? Well, sitting anyway!
Time to read!!! Thanks, Carrie! Blessings!
