Of ACFW, pneumonia, and Hope By The Book Magazine

Hi friends! I know it’s later in the day than I usually post but there’s so much to catch up on so … no time like the present, right?

The last few weeks have felt like a year – and not necessarily in a bad way.

This time two weeks ago I was thinking “I should probably start packing for ACFW” which I was heading to Nashville for the next day. Nothing like planning ahead 😉

While there I got to hug on so many of my fave authors & fave people – and yours too! Recognize anybody in these pics (besides me… i’m not interesting when you consider who i’m in frame with lol)

I also have another picture that I took at dinner one night, but I won’t publish it because I want Debbie Macomber to still like me 😉 The picture is of DEBBIE MACOMBER EATING AT MY TABLE and FRANK PERETTI just over her shoulder. I sat there in that moment and thought, “If someone had told me five years ago that I would be eating with Debbie Macomber and sitting within eyesight of Frank Peretti and hugging all those people in the photos above (and considering them dear friends) I would have thought they’d been reading too many of Frank’s books.”

An undeserved blessing that I will never take for granted ♄

And then the day I returned I got sick. Really sick. And then my husband got sick. Really sick. Diagnosis: pneumonia for the both of us. So we were pretty pitiful together.

BUT THEN YESTERDAY!!!!!

Speaking of undeserved blessings….

THIS HAPPENED:

(drum roll please)

(go on – click that image up there with the books and the blue wall and the nifty logo)

Hope By The Book is doing what has never quite been done before – creating a magazine to celebrate books (across multiple genres, fiction and nonfiction) AND the reading life for the avid reader, as well as offering smart reviews from industry professionals to industry professionals.

Each issue will have new articles for every reader seeking useful, fun, and inspiring content all about books and the reading life! It will be packed with top notch articles and images that feed your inner bookworm and arm you with great books to grab at the bookstore.

Each post on our website will do the same!

We love books. We live books. In fact, to us, books and lifestyle are interchangeable. Books inspire us to change our lives, to refine our souls, to stretch our imaginations, and to deepen our faith.

    Carrie,
I am so very sorry that you both have been sick. Take care of yourself and take it easy. Pneumonia is nothing to miss around with, I know that for a fact.
I have several questions about your magazine. Is it available in print form? If so, then how do we pay for it?
    Congratulations on your new adventure.

  9. It was such a treat talking to you, hugging you and getting our photo taken together! So sorry you got sick when you returned home! And congrats on the magazine! I’ve already preordered. 😀

Dear Carrie, I fear that you don’t have enough to keep you busy. You should definitely take on a few more projects so you don’t get bored. 😀 Love you, my BFFF!

  12. Rebecca Maney

Of course, I subscribed! This magazine is going to simplify my book nerd cravings by placing info all in one place on a regular basis. Great idea . . . .and I love it all. News about new releases, news about upcoming releases, news about the industry in general, products that favor the avid reader, interviews with authors, tutorials on the writing process; including promotion ideas, crafting reviews, etc. I would definitly love to know about reading group clusters and/or conferences/events in my area.

  13. Sooooo super excited about this, Carrie!!!
And I’m really glad you’re feeling better.
But I’m happy about EVEN more – is that I got to spend SO MUCH TIME WITH YOU at ACFW (AND meet your superhero ERIC in PERSON) – YAYAYAYAYAYA

    Love you bunches!

  14. Mindy Obenhaus

I’m so glad I finally got to meet you and hug your neck at ACFW, Carrie. And I’m thrilled about this magazine. My order is in.

  15. Say, Carrie, I had a question. Is the new magazine< "Hope By the Book" different than the magazine, "Hope for Women"? Because I recently subscribed to the new magazine, "Hope By the Book, or so I thought, so hope I don't receive a different one instead:) Thanks! Lual

    • Carrie

Hi Lual! Yes they are two different magazines 🙂 if you check your order confirmation email it might be from Hope For Women (since they are our parent magazine) but the order itself should say Hope By The Book. I can check on it tomorrow for you too 🙂

I subscribed to and paid for a year-long subscription of Hope By the Book magazine on 10 Nov 2018, but after receiving the inaugural issue in late January 2019, I have not heard anything else about the magazine (nor have I received any subsequent issues.) What happened? If the magazine has folded, when can those that have paid for a subscription expect to receive a refund?

    • Stephanie Atkinson

I agree. I subscribed and paid for a year but only received the first issue. I have called and emailed but no response. If there are no more issues, refunds need to be applied. When we will hear something?
