Flower Boy: noun 1. slang for a really hot guy
Hannah Reynolds travels to Korea in search of her own drama hero come to life. What she gets instead is gorgeous, but surly tour guide, Jae Lee. He seems determined to ruin every romantic location they visit with his snarky comments, but Hannah can’t deny the crackling tension between them.
As they travel around the country with a busload of wacky K-drama and K-pop fans, their chemistry keeps drawing the two together. Hannah sees the mountain of problems standing between her and a relationship with Jae. They live in different countries. She’s flying home in five days. And he always takes an emotional step back whenever they get closer. But her heart doesn’t want to listen to reason. All it can see is the flower boy tour guide.
One review on Amazon said “
Confession 1: I have never heard a K-pop group.
Confession 2: I have never seen a K-drama.
Confession 3: I never plan to.
But now I’ve been given a crash-course in this quirky subculture through a cute romcom that I admittedly felt very old while reading haha!
If you take away the reason for Hannah’s trip to Seoul – the K-drama tour – and all its strange vocabulary (who knew ‘my bias’ meant ‘the one I fangirl over the most’??? I have a couple of authors in mind that I’m totally calling ‘my bias’ from now on 😛 ), Flower Boy Tour Guide is at its heart an adorable, sweet romantic comedy with diverse and sometimes-hilarious characters. The scene where Jae has to help one of the allergy-med-sedated (ahem) middle-aged ladies back to the bus had me laughing out loud (because it hit a little too close to home lol), and the great romantic moment had me swooning.
Hannah is a cute heroine, and Jae is quite a yummy hero in his own right. He’s a little snarky, a little hard to figure out, a little Darcy-ish… but deep within he’s much more layered than first appears. Same with Hannah – and our inner fangirls (whether over books or favorite authors or #myJames … or K-dramas) will relate to her on that deep-within squeal that unites us all.
Bottom Line: Whether you could write a primer on flower boys and aegyo and bias and backhugs…. or if you (like me) just blinked in complete ignorance at those words & wondered when you got so old… you can enjoy Flower Boy Tour Guide as a cute, quick read with fun characters and a sweet romance. Not sure it’s for you? It’s FREE today, so now’s your chance to grab it and give it a try 🙂
