Author: Susan May Warren
Publisher: SDG Publishing

Genre: Christian Romantic Suspense
What will it cost this bodyguard to save the woman he loves?
Bodyguard, Tate Marshall, has always been the family troublemaker. Maybe it’s his impulsive propensity to get into the middle of problems that don’t belong to him. But once in, he can’t stop himself from trying to solve them and that includes his recent dilemma. He’s in love with the woman he’s supposed to protect, the beautiful Gloria, “Glo” Jackson, daughter of US Senator and presidential hopeful Reba Jackson. A member of the country band, the Yankee Belles, Glo was targeted in a recent terrorist attack designed to deter her mother from running.
Glo is as stubborn as her mother, and Glo isn’t about to hide from threats, at least the kind that won’t cost her heart. Because she’s already paid a terrible price for the war on terror, and she can’t let herself love a man who might die, especially because of her.
As the campaign heats up and the threats deepen, so does the attraction between Tate and Glo. But when they’re discovered, and Tate is fired, what will he do to protect the woman he loves?
And what will Glo do to keep from losing another man to the costs of war?
The gripping second installment of the Marshall Family series.

Hi Susie! Welcome to the blog!
Q: Around here I like to say that reading is my superpower. If YOU had a superpower, what would it be?
SMW: My superpower is that I draft well. ? I have an amazing staff, all who surpass me in their abilities. I also have x-ray vision. I can spot great story bones. I can see inside a story and see if it works, or doesn’t just from the first chapter, and know the questions to ask to fix it.
Carrie: You really are a superhero!!
Q: Other than the Bible, what are five of your most cherished books?
SMW: The Ghosts, a time travel book
The Black Stallion by Walter Farley
Twice Upon a Time by Dennis M. Van Wey
Last Days of Summer by Steve Kluger
Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers
Carrie: I really need to read The Black Stallion one of these days – it pops up on this question so often!
Q: Writing spaces are as diverse as authors and books. Where is your favorite space to write?
SMW: I have a beautiful back porch that overlooks our marsh, filled with ducks, geese, pheasants, deer and turkeys. I love to sit in my big red chair and write with that view.
Carrie: Ducks, geese, pheasants, and turkeys sounds like the start of a horror movie for me #birdphobia 😉 But I bet it’s so peaceful if one isn’t inordinately terrified of fowl. haha!
Q: Were there any songs that inspired you as you wrote Tate?
SMW: I am always inspired by music! For this book, I loved “No Longer Slaves” by Bethel Music. https://youtu.be/f8TkUMJtK5k “I’m no longer a slave to fear. I am a child of God.”
Carrie: one of my faves!
Q: If Hollywood wanted to produce your book as a movie, who would you want to be cast as the lead roles?
SMW: Scott Eastwood as TATE. ? And Kristen Bell as GLO!!
Carrie: I adore Kristen Bell & excuse me while I quit drooling over Scott Eastwood as Tate 😉
Q: Did you have the whole plot outlined before you started writing Tate, or did you let the characters dictate what came next?
SMW: I use a method called the Story Equation to help me get at the root of my characters issues and help me find the big bones of the plot. From there, I “tell myself the story” a story that helps me flesh out the big picture of the story before I start writing. After that, it’s just a matter of discovering those individual scenes that build the story. Of course, I give myself the freedom to change course, but once I understand my characters’ fears, lies, wounds and secret desires, it’s easy to figure out the plot! (find out more about the Story Equation here!)
Carrie: i love this!
Q: What do you most want readers to take away from Tate?
SMW: We often see our lives through the lens of our mistakes, our failures and who we AREN’T. We need to see who we ARE, and live in grace. I’m hoping readers are inspired by this thought and find a new freedom.
Carrie: all the amens to this!
Thank you so much for taking time to talk with me! 🙂 Before we say goodbye for today, tell us what‘s coming up next for you.
SMW: Thanks for asking! Book 3, FORD, hits the shelves in early September. It’s the continuing adventures of the Montana Marshalls!
Carrie: I know I can speak for all of your fans when i squeal with excitement 😀
