Please join me in welcoming Valerie Bodden to the blog to chat about the latest book in her Hope Springs series!

Valerie M. Bodden has three great loves: Jesus, her family, and books. And chocolate (okay, four great loves). She writes fast-paced, emotion-filled Christian fiction that weaves real-life problems, real-life people, and real-life faith. Your heart might crack a little bit for these characters because their problems are our problems, their hurts are our hurts, their deepest needs are our deepest needs. But your heart will always be put back together by the end, and you’ll walk away feeling uplifted and reminded of the power of love—not only romantic love but, more importantly, the love our heavenly father has for each of us. A love so great that he sent his son to pay the price for our sins so that we would have the promise of eternal life.

Valerie is living out her happily ever after with her high-school-sweetheart-turned-husband and their four children in Wisconsin. You can connect with her at www.valeriembodden.com.

Not Until You
SERIES:
Hope Springs #3

GENRE: Inspirational Contemporary Romance
RELEASE DATE: May 3, 2019
PAGES: 291

She clings to the past like a treasured antique. He’d rather toss it in the trash. But if they can learn to trust in the God of second chances, they might just discover a future together.

The past is all she has… Since her husband’s death three years ago, Violet has struggled to keep their antique store afloat and her grief at bay. She knows it’s time to move on, but she’s not sure she wants to. So when Nate moves in next door, she tries to ignore the feelings he stirs in her—feelings that were supposed to have died with her husband.

The past haunts him… Nate’s star was rising in the world of Christian music. But all that was erased with  a single, life-shattering mistake. One he doesn’t deserve to be forgiven for. One that means he doesn’t deserve a future—and definitely not with his beautiful new neighbor.

Can they have a future? As the two work together to save her store, neither can deny the feelings that are starting to develop. But when Nate’s secret is exposed, they have to decide if they should walk away—or trust that the God of second chances has a plan for their future.

Filled with faith, hope, and second chances, NOT UNTIL YOU will touch your heart and leave you breathless with the power of true love. Grab your copy and soak up this emotional Christian romance today.

Other Books In the Series

The books in the Hope Springs series by Valerie Bodden each feature a complete romance about a different couple and can be read in any order.

Hi Valerie! Welcome to the blog!

Valerie: Definitely summer! I like to say that I’m solar powered, so I love those sunny summer days. Plus, I hate to be cold (I’m wearing two pairs of socks and a pair of slippers right now, lol). And summer means flowers and gardening!

Carrie: I, on the other hand, hate to be hot and have never met a plant I couldn’t kill haha!

Valerie: Both! We have one dog and two cats, and I could never choose between them. The dog makes sure I get in a walk every day (my best brainstorming time). And the cats let me cuddle with them, as long as it fits with their schedule—usually when I’m trying to type or read.

Carrie: lol sounds about right 🙂

Valerie: How about Hallmark-style movies on Netflix? My 14-year-old daughter and I have been making our way through them together.

Carrie: best of both worlds!

Valerie: These days, I read mostly ebooks, mainly because my bookshelves have no more room for print books. I do still read and enjoy both, though.

Carrie: I can totally relate to not having enough bookshelves 😉

Q: Around here I like to say that reading is my superpower. If YOU had a superpower, what would it be?

Valerie: Writing-wise, I would love to be able to directly download the story that is in my brain onto the page. So often, I feel like everything is clear in my head, but it takes a ridiculous amount of effort to get some semblance of that onto the page. Life-wise, I’d love to know exactly the right thing to say when someone (especially my kiddos) needs advice or guidance.

Carrie: Both of those would be very valuable to have!

Q: Which books are “on your nightstand”?

Valerie: Hundreds of them on my Kindle app, lol. But I’m currently reading Laura Story’s When God Doesn’t Fix It (so moving and faith-filled), and I just finished Autumn Macarthur’s A Model Bride (loved it!). Currently looking through my TBR to decide on my next read…

Carrie: Both of those are on my TBR 🙂

Q: Writing spaces are as diverse as authors and books. Where is your favorite space to write?

Valerie: Not to be boring, but I love to write at home. Last summer, my husband and I remodeled our dining room and turned it into a beautiful office, complete with built-in shelves and a built-in desk that looks out over the flower garden in front of our house. I can’t really think of anywhere I’d rather be, to be honest.

Carrie: That sounds lovely!

Q: Were there any songs that inspired you as you wrote Not Until You?

Valerie: Forgiveness is a major theme of Not Until You, and I created a playlist centered on that theme to listen to as I wrote. It included “Forgiven” and “Come As You Are” by Crowder, “Broken Things” and “Grace Wins” by Matthew West, and “East to West” by Casting Crowns.

Carrie: all faves of mine 🙂

Q: Did you have the whole plot outlined before you started writing, or did you let the characters dictate what came next?

Valerie: I generally have the major scenes and overall flow of a book planned before I start writing, but as I’m writing and the characters come to life, additional scenes tend to pop up out of nowhere—and they often become my favorite scenes.

Carrie: I love how that works!

Q: What do you most want readers to take away from Not Until You?

Valerie: In addition to enjoying the romance between Nate and Violet, I hope readers are reminded that Jesus died for every last sin—not because we have done anything to deserve his forgiveness but out of his grace and love. There is no sin that is beyond the forgiveness he won for us on the cross.

Carrie: Amen ♥

Thank you so much for taking time to talk with me! 🙂 Before we say goodbye for today, tell us what‘s coming up next for you.

Valerie: I’m working on book four in the Hope Springs series and trying to keep up with my ideas for the books after that.
