A fresh start…and an old love reignited?
A Rocky Mountain Heroes romance
For widow Kayla Bradshaw, restoring a historic Colorado hotel means a better life for her and her soon-to-arrive baby. But she needs construction help from Jude Stephens, the love she lost through a misunderstanding. Working with Kayla, the police officer finds himself forgiving her—and longing to rebuild her shattered confidence. But can they trust each other enough to forge a future together?
It took Mindy Obenhaus forty years to figure out what she wanted to do when she grew up, but once God called her to write, she never looked back. A three-time Carol Award finalist, Mindy is passionate about touching readers with Biblical truths in an entertaining, and sometimes adventurous, manner. She lives on a ranch in Texas with her husband, the youngest of her five children and two dogs. When she’s not writing, she enjoys cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.
Welcome to Ouray, Colorado, the setting for Reunited in the Rockies, book four in my Rocky Mountain Heroes series.
Rich in history and gorgeous scenery, Ouray is one of my favorite places to visit. In the late 1800’s, it was a bustling mining town with a population of nearly ten thousand people. Enveloped by twelve- to fourteen-thousand-foot peaks, Ouray now boasts only about a thousand residents, however it still has the flavor of a bygone era and visitors come from all over the world to Jeep the old mine roads and explore the untouched beauty of the area.
Many visitors have fallen in love with Ouray after just one visit. Including my heroine, Kayla Bradshaw. Seven years ago, she fell in love with the cozy feel of the town and its Victorian era Main Street.
Along with the rustic redstone cliffs.
But one of the things Kayla appreciates most about Ouray is its historic buildings. Would you believe that seventy percent of the town’s Victorian era structures are still in use today?
When Kayla, who now makes a living restoring old homes in Denver, returns to Ouray for her friend Lily’s wedding, Kayla is presented with the opportunity to stay in Ouray and oversee the restoration of a historic hotel renovation. The invitation has Kayla facing a dilemma, though. Because if she says yes it will mean working with Jude Stephens, her first love and the man who broke Kayla’s heart.
This hotel, which is still in use in Ouray, was my inspiration for the old Congress Hotel in the book.
Doesn’t it conjure up images of the old west?
Yet while Ouray has so many things to see and do, there’s one place that’s pretty hard to resist.
Mouse’s Chocolates and Coffee is always at the top of my list whenever I visit. You’ll find some of the finest chocolates in the world in this little shop. And what’s not to like about that?
Thank you for allowing me to share just a little glimpse of Ouray. If you’d like to see more, simply visit my website, www.mindyobenhaus.com, and click on the OURAY tab.
