Can a magical Christmas under glass…

…bring them back together for good?

Widowed dad Adam Masterson still doesn’t understand why Joy Boston left Indian Lake and broke his heart all those years ago. Now she’s returned to sell her grandfather’s beloved poinsettia greenhouse—and Joy and Adam’s connection is as strong as ever. But Joy has a life in New York. And Adam has only until Christmas to convince Joy that she belongs in Indian Lake—with him.

I always love a visit to the fictional shores of Indian Lake, especially at Christmastime. Lanigan has created a charming town with endearing characters and heartwarming stories, where the definitions of ‘friend’ and ‘family’ are nearly synonymous. At Christmas, that dividing line is even thinner, and of course the intriguing Mrs. Beabots is at the heart of it all.

Home for Christmas is a sweet story of second chances at first loves, and the exploration of home and family is truly touching. Adam and Joy have both experienced deep grief, and now they must face a shared loss – while still working through what they were to each other once upon a time. As you might expect, this allows for some great romantic and emotional tension between them, and I loved watching their friendship (and maybe more) begin to reignite. Adam’s young genius son Titus will capture your heart and put a smile on your face whenever he’s on the page, and I never knew what he would be up to – or saying – next.

My favorite part of Home for Christmas, though, isn’t the romance (I hear you gasping in shock – hang with me) or Titus’s precociousness. My favorite aspect of this novel is the way the town comes together for one of their own, no matter how many years she’s been gone or why she left in the first place. The Christmas magic they create is so deliciously Hallmark-y, and the author’s vivid descriptions make the setting – and the Christmas mood – come alive.

Bottom Line: Whether you’ve been a fan of Lanigan’s long-running Shores of Indian Lake series from book one or you’re just arriving on the scene, the close-knit small town’s charm will quickly wrap you in twinkle lights and hot chocolate. Joy and Adam’s story is a look at grief, bitterness, forgiveness, restoration… and coming home again. Second chances abound in more ways than one in Home For Christmas, and you’ll love discovering each one.

I love a good small town series! You get to know the local town folks, and feel like you are going home when you read part of the series.

I loved your review of this book. I wondered how much research the author had to do on growing poinsettas.

What I love most about small town romances, is they feel so much more peaceful than the big city life. A more relaxed way of living!
