When I came up with an unusual idea for an Amish book a few years ago, I never imagined I’d be writing an Amish suspense, too. But I was happy to accept a multi-book contract from Love Inspired that included three LI Amish books and two LI Suspense Amish books.

Amish Christmas Hideaway is the first of the two suspense books. While it stands on its own, characters from the other books pass through this one since it’s set in the same small community of Campton Creek, located in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The hero and heroine of Amish Christmas Hideaway made an appearance in an earlier book, Her Amish Child. Once Nathan Craig and Alisha Braxton came onto the pages of that story, I knew they had a story of their own. They fairly shouted it to me and the Amish hero and heroine they were trying to help.

Alisha and Nathan had a past history of forbidden love that left them both broken-hearted after a tragedy occurred and Nathan blames himself. Alisha’s grandmother Bettye was Amish but left to marry an Englisch. Nathan and Alisha are forced back together a few days before Christmas, when after Alisha witnesses a terrible double-homicide, she goes to her grandmother’s home in Campton Creek. Someone is trying to kill her. She calls the one person she can trust—Nathan Craig, now a private investigator who helps the Amish track down missing relatives. While Alisha mourns the loss of her teenaged sweetheart, she trusts the man Nathan has become and they have worked cases together before. But this time they are thrown together to save Alisha and to find out who ordered these murders.

The beautiful stag on the cover surprised me by becoming a hero, too. The stag plays an important part in the story and in bringing Nathan and Alisha back together as they hide out in Amish country.

This story captured my heart so I hope it will do the same for you. Merry Christmas and I wish you the best for the New Year. Christmas is always a time of reunions and homecomings, and sometimes the quiet miracle of this holiday can also bring broken-hearted star-crossed lovers back together, too.

I like Christmas stories as well as stories about the Amish, and “Amish Christmas Hideaway” has both, but above all it was written by Lenora Worth whose books always leave me continuing on to the next chapter even when I should be doing something besides reading.

  3. MS Barb

I enjoy Christmas novels year round, and, I live near Amish communities, and can’t imagine someone going into hiding in an Amish community! Their lifestyle is interesting, and very different!
