WAITING FOR YOU
SERIES: The Spencer Family #1
GENRE: Inspirational Contemporary Romance
PUBLISHER: Dreamer Publishing
RELEASE DATE: January 7, 2020
PAGES: 258
Responsibility—that one word sums up Wade Spencer’s existence since his father’s death. Thrust into the role of head of the family, he’s keeping the farm running and his younger siblings in line. When a life-threatening illness attacks his momma, he readily steps in to support her. Sure would be nice to have someone by his side to help carry the load, but all that responsibility hasn’t left much time for dating. Or maybe it’s just his reserved nature holding him back.
Dani Connor had gotten everything she ever dreamed of as a child. Married her high school sweetheart, had a sweet little girl she could shower with all the love she’d been denied by her own parents, and built a life far away from the farm. When those dreams come crashing down, she realizes that back at home on the farm is where she should have stayed.
It doesn’t take long after Dani’s return to Shiloh for Wade to realize she’s the one God has in mind, but Dani will have to get over past hurts and take another chance if she wants Wade to be part of her new dreams.

What makes Wade Spencer a swoon-worthy hero?
by Andrea Boyd, author of Waiting for You
When I started writing Waiting For You, I didn’t set out thinking, ‘I’m going to create the most swoon-worthy male character ever and everyone is going to love him!’ I only wrote what God laid on my heart. I don’t know, maybe He thought my readers needed to see a man like Wade.
My first indication that I had written a hero worthy of the name came from my critique partners. Over the months of me feeding them one chapter at a time, the same note repeatedly came back to me- “I love Wade!” The mantra continued through every reader who has reached out to me about the book so far.
So, what makes Wade Spencer so swoon-worthy? I asked the question in my readers group and here are the responses I got:
“The question should be ‘Is there anything that makes Wade Spencer NOT swoon-worthy??’ And it would be NO!” -Anne Payne
“The way he was always there for his family. Not just for his mom but all his family. A faithful, reliable man is a swoon-worthy man.” -Dana Thompson Smith
“Okay…okay…looks wise, hello, hair, eyes…but to the heart of the person…his Faith, and his honest to goodness caring about others…. sigh…” -Paula Marie
“His protective streak.” -Ebos Aifuobhokhan
“He’s Wade!! But his heart, his love for his family, his sense of responsibility, his caring attitude…..” -Ochegba Adejo
“His tenderness.” -Toni Shiloh
“His love for his family.” -Allyson Anthony
“His heart, his desire to be responsible for his family even though he wishes he could escape that for a bit. His strength of character, his soft-spoken ways. In short, pretty much everything about him. You created a pretty near perfect man.” Susan Gibson Snodgrass
“He’s also handsome!” -Lori Parrish
“Oh yes! All the above. I like the fact that he hasn’t been with a lot of women.” -Brenda Foster Murphree
Here’s an Excerpt that may help you decide for yourself.
Wade checked his phone, anticipating a text or two from Dani. The messages they zipped back and forth to each other sure did make the workday go by faster. The smile died from his face and his heartrate spiked when he read the single text she’d sent an hour ago. Tate’s here.
He tore off around the house at a sprint and jumped into his truck. Dust and rocks spewed out behind him when he left the front drive.
Lord, please protect her. She hasn’t texted or called in the last hour to let me know what he wanted. Oh, God, please don’t let her be hurt. I don’t trust that man. You know what he’s done to her in the past.
The drive next door seemed to take forever. The image of the purple bruises on her arm might as well be plastered on the windshield because that’s all he could see. Dani had confessed that Tate had hit her before when they were still together. As far as he knew, she’d been alone at the house this morning. What would stop Tate from hitting her again?
Or worse?
Tate’s car wasn’t parked in front of the house when he got there, but that didn’t ease Wade’s anxiety one bit. It only meant that if Tate had intended harm, it had already been done and Wade hadn’t been there to stop it.
Why didn’t I look at my phone sooner?
He jumped out of the truck and ran toward the house. He’d already gained the front steps when Dani walked out of the house, looking a little shaky, but otherwise intact.
Wade ran his hands over her bare arms, looking for any bruises Tate may have left behind. “Are you okay? Did he hurt you?”
“I’m hurting for Piper, but otherwise, I’m fine.”
He scanned the door behind her. “Where is she?”
“She’s with Grandma. Tate didn’t do anything to Piper. He just…” Dani’s gaze dropped to his chest and her lip trembled. “He gave up his parental rights. He wants me to change her name and mine back to Connor.
“As for my part, I wouldn’t care if I never saw Tate Sutherland or his parents again, but I know what it’s like to have your parents turn their backs. I never wanted that for my own child.”
Wade pulled her to him and kissed her forehead. “Sweetheart, I’m sorry for what you went through as a child without parents, but it isn’t the same for Piper. She has you. And she has me.”
Dani pulled back and looked up at him. If he wasn’t mistaken, a glimmer of hope shone from her face. It was enough for him to go on. “Connor’s a fine name, but what about Spencer?”
“What are you saying?”
“I’m standing here before you, smelly and grimy from work, asking you to marry me. This is not how I would’ve planned it, but I mean it with all my heart. I love you and Piper, and I want us to be a family.”
She looked away and his heart stuttered a beat.
“Wade, I know you like to fix things, but you can’t ask me to marry you on a whim.” She laughed halfheartedly. “We’ve never even been on an official date yet. Wouldn’t that be something to tell the grandkids.”
He cupped her face between both hands. “Then tell them this. Tell them that you’re the only woman I’ve ever loved. The only one I’ve ever considered.”
He stepped closer and lowered his voice. “Dani, my whole life I’ve been waiting for you… for us. Beyond any doubt, I know this is what I want. But I understand if you need time to think about it. Pray about it. Talk it over with your dad and grandma.
“But know this, I won’t change my mind. Despite how it seems, this is not a spur of the moment decision on my part. I’ve thought of nothing else since before that first time I asked you to go horseback riding with me. I have prayed about it and know in my heart that you are the one for me.”
Each of Andrea Boyd’s series represents a different genre but all fall into the category of romance. All offer an element of her own brand of humor. And all are a tribute to God. Besides writing, she loves spending time with her family, quilting, going to car shows, and driving around in her 1968 Barracuda convertible. Andrea lives with her husband, Tommy, and at least a couple of cats in York County, SC.
