HER STAND-IN COWBOY
SERIES: Her Stand-In Romance #1
GENRE: Contemporary Romance (clean)
PUBLISHER: Impact Editions
RELEASE DATE: November 7, 2019
PAGES: 244
When a wary farm girl takes on a big city chiropractor as her stand-in boyfriend, convincing her family they’re in love might be easier than convincing themselves they’re not.
There are certain things a single country mom learns to accept. Like the fact that she now shares a sacred bond of empathy with her dairy cow, that spit-up can reach places it never should be able to, and that a pretend relationship is far less complicated than one her southern mama insists on setting her up in. At least, it is when you have anyone’s luck besides Ainsley Jamison’s.
Only in Ainsley’s life would her imaginary decoy turn out to be a real-life city boy who is as hilariously wrong for her as he is persistent. With less than four weeks before her entire family shows up for Thanksgiving, they don’t have a cotton-picking prayer of turning Connor into a believable cowboy in time, let alone fix up her place while they’re at it.
Heaven knows Ainsley’s already maxed out her faith hoping she made the right choice raising her son there. But while praying she didn’t make a mistake taking on her daddy’s farm is one thing, praying she didn’t make one taking on Connor Allen is another entirely. One that’s about to turn everything in her life upside down.
Download Her Stand-in Cowboy now to enjoy a clean romantic comedy full of quirky characters, small-town fun, and a romance sure to touch your heart.

Whatever Ainsley was thinking of saying next seemed to pull her in two directions. But when she didn’t withdraw, Connor ran his thumb along her knuckles. “If you’re okay with it,” he said tentatively, “I’d still like to stay and be here for you through the holiday.”
A piece of him had almost said he’d stay longer, but he couldn’t offer that. As winsome as Jamison Farms was, not to mention the girl beside him, it was a temporary stop on a rootless path he needed to follow. He hadn’t fully understood why until coming here and seeing how different life was for someone like her.
Ainsley’s focus wandered to her lap. A deep breath raised her shoulders, then slowly released them.
If they were standing, Connor was sure she’d be swaying in place the way she did out of habit from soothing Josiah. It was a sweet tic. Something he’d learned to associate with her way of mulling something over. Not for the first time, he wished he knew what she was thinking. Even more so, he wished he knew how to dismantle her reservations.
He could reassure her he’d avoid complicating things between them, but that was another promise he couldn’t keep. Of the few things he truly was afraid of, that scared him most.
A notification from his phone wormed into the standstill of their conversation. Connor ignored it despite Ainsley’s sad smile confirming it was fine to take it.
“Business comes first.” Audible hurt trembled in the short phrase. Keeping it buried, she pulled up on the rail. “Speaking of, I need to get back to my own before Josiah’s appointment with the pediatrician.”
Connor closed out the reminder on his phone and shot off a quick text to Flynn before Ainsley had fully risen off the steps. “Hold that thought.” He stuffed his cell into his back pocket and rose opposite her. “How about a helper?”
“Don’t you have to get to the office?”
“It’s my day off. And I just canceled a Skype meeting I was going to have with Flynn this morning, so I’m all yours.” He shrugged when she squinted at him. “I figured I could stick around the farm today. Maybe finish turning Spock’s pen into Alcatraz.”
Ainsley’s mouth pulled to the side. “I’m not sure even you have enough skills for that.”
“You don’t think so, huh?” He caught her fingers when she started to turn.
The playfulness in her eyes yielded to something he couldn’t walk away from. Pulse drumming, he edged closer. She was right about his lack of skills. He’d need an entire army’s worth to withstand the urge to kiss her right now.
He’d reminded himself again and again that he was only here until Thanksgiving. He’d even convinced himself he could last that long and be here for her without getting attached. But when the slowest movement brought her eyes to his again, he knew surviving two more weeks was nothing compared to the undeniable truth driving his feet another inch toward her: No military force in the world could save him from the next five minutes.

I think it will end with a kiss.
Cowboy!
I enjoy the stand-in boyfriend trope because it is so much fun to watch them get dragged into something they thought to avoid. I think the excerpt ends in a kiss. Best wishes to the author on the new release.
