ALWAYS YOU (Potter’s House Two #5)
SERIES: Murphy Brothers #1
GENRE: Inspirational Contemporary Romance
PUBLISHER: Rooted Publishing
RELEASE DATE: March 3, 2020
They made a pact of friendship. Love was not supposed to be part of the deal.
Lauren is desperate to escape the massive shadow of her father’s and sister’s political careers.
Matt is running from the biggest disappointment of his life.
After a messy meeting in a snowbound airport, they launch a new friendship, founded on a mutual love for the Lord and an agreement of respect. They find themselves working together at the Lake Shore Resort, thankful to have each other as they each carve out a fresh start. But as the winter season wears on, and through a few interesting predicaments, one begins to feel more, and the other…well. Maybe neither knows what they really want. Already wounded from the things they’ve left behind, Matt and Lauren wrestle with what comes next. Afraid to move forward. Not wanting to go back.
Each must face a dilemma that only the hand of the Potter can smooth into a hopeful, promising future. Can they surrender past hurts, as well as their future hopes and plans and trust the good intentions of the God they both love?

Hi my friend! Welcome back to the blog!
Jennifer: Coffee. Always coffee. (Most teas actually upset my stomach.)
Carrie: oh no! It’s a good thing you like coffee then 🙂
Jennifer: Netflix. I can’t stand commercials, and if you want to know the truth (please don’t purse-womp me) there’s a limit to how much of the Hallmark I can stand. 😉
Carrie: haha! No, i totally get it – I usually limit my Hallmark watching to the Mysteries channel (and I DVR them so I can skip the commercials lol)
Jennifer: Mountains. I love hiking, and frankly, they’re more accessible to me than the ocean.
Carrie: The mountains are my happy place – as long as I don’t have to hike them 😉
Jennifer: Can’t I have both? Homemade tomato soup with a grilled-cheese sandwich! <3
Carrie: Yumm… yes please!
Q: Around here I like to say that reading is my superpower. If YOU had a superpower, what would it be?
Jennifer: Hmmm… I think I’ve run out of superpowers lately. I’m thinking, I’m thinking… yeah, I’ve got nothing. But, Fred Rogers would say that he just likes me for me, so I’m okay with that. 😉
Carrie: pffft, i’ve read your books – writing IS your superpower!!
Q: Tell me some good books you’ve read recently!
Jennifer: Me, Myself, and Bob by Phil Vischer. I’m currently rereading it, because it’s become a favorite—Phil’s story is poignant and interesting, and quite insightful. The Theft of America’s Soul by Phil Robertson. I like interesting people—even if they’re very different from myself. Phil’s testimony is powerful—so much more than you’ll ever see on the reality show, and the man is passionate about the gospel. I’d wager he’s baptized more people than many career preachers. And, on the lighter side, I recently got around to reading Perfecting Kate by Tamara Leigh. So many chuckles, and I loved her voice in that story. 😊
Carrie: I still need to read all of those – ack! Lol
Q: If I sneaked a peek in your purse right now (which I would never do, I promise!), what would it tell me about you?
Jennifer: LOL… I don’t carry a purse! I hate them, and once my daughter got me a wallet case for my phone, I ditched the bag forever. What would that tell you about me? Hmm… that I don’t like to carry stuff? I have no idea! 😉
Q: What surprised you about Always You or your characters as you wrote their story?
Jennifer:In Always You, the female lead is Lauren, and she’s unlike my typical female leads in that she’s easily likable. (I don’t know why I usually write hard-to-like characters, nor do I want to dive into what that says about me…) What surprised me was how much easier it was to write that sort of character! What have I been doing this whole time? 😉
Carrie: LOL – well, don’t give up on those harder-to-like heroines either. I happen to like them, too … eventually 😉
Q: Do you have the whole plot outlined before you start writing, or do you let the characters dictate what comes next?
Jennifer: I usually have a rough plot outlined when I write any book. I didn’t start out that way, but discovered that while full-out pantsing feels like freedom, that approach, for me, made the second round of writing a little bit of a nightmare. With a rough outline, I still feel like I have a lot of freedom to let the story take a bit of its own course, but I also have guidelines that keep bunny trails and ridiculously high word counts in check.
Carrie: Sorta the best of both worlds – i like it!
Q: What do you most want readers to take away from Always You?
Jennifer: That God’s plans for us are good, and that He can be trusted—even in the seasons of no, which feels mean and disappointing, He is for us.
Carrie: Amen! (And very timely, too!)
Thank you so much for taking time to talk with me! 🙂 Before we say goodbye for today, tell us what‘s coming up next for you.
Jennifer:The second book in my Big Prairie Romance series (book 1 is When I Come Home Again) is scheduled to release in June, and the second Murphy Brothers Story (Always You is the first) is scheduled to release in July as another book in the Potters House Books (Two) series. I’m excited about both books! 😊
