Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Want to Read Because of the Setting

Posted April 7, 2020 by meezcarrie in Christian, contemporary, historical, mystery/suspense, Top Ten Tuesday / 8 Comments

Happy Tuesday! Today’s Top Ten Tuesday theme is books I want to read because of the setting (well, that’s my version of the open-ended prompt anyway lol). And, specifically, a Smoky Mountains setting – my happy place in real life and on the pages of a book. There’s just something really special about these mountains – the view, the people, the culture, the history. Plus, it feels like home.

Please note: These are the first 10 I came across in my TBR list. I know that there are many more I could have included!

And check out all 4 books in the Otter Lake Ranger’s Station series by Cheryl Harper HERE

For a list of books I’ve already read from this setting, check out my Appalachia/Smoky Mountains shelf on Goodreads! And for some other settings (including this one) that I’d like to see more of in fiction, head HERE.

What about you? What are some books you want to read because of the setting? Do you have any more books to add to my Smoky Mountain TBR?

  1. I love the idea of having one zoomed-in location as a favorite setting. I tried to think of something like that for me, but I think I’m not as setting-focused in general. All I can really say is that I’m not a big fan of super-contemporary urban settings (cell phones and texting and busy cities). This post will have me thinking more in depth of what I gravitate more toward from this point on though.
