Hi Sharee! Welcome to the blog!
Sharee: True confessions, apples over oranges BUT, I’m an apple snob. I can admit it. All apples MUST be Honeycrisp or Pink Ladies. I can’t do soggy or fuzzy apples (not sure how else to describe it, but anything not crispy is icky).
Carrie: YES. Girl, me too. Crisp and sweet please.
Sharee: Netflix, but only because I love the variety of shows and enjoy those rare times when I can binge watch a series without commercials.
Carrie: ah yes – no commercials is very nice. I DVR my Hallmark Mysteries for that very reason haha!
Sharee: I’m originally from Colorado and as much as I love the ocean, there’s nothing like mountains to ground me and remind me of God’s incredible majesty.
Carrie: I totally agree!
Sharee: Print for sure. Although I do love being able to increase the font size on an eBook, I still prefer holding paper and the smell of print.
Carrie: Increasing the font size IS gold, though lol. But I’m with you – I love seeing all the print books on my bookshelves. Ebooks just don’t have that same effect 🙂
Q: Around here I like to say that reading is my superpower. If YOU had a superpower, what would it be?
Sharee: Turning back time. I know that wouldn’t work for everyone but there’s a few things I’d love getting the chance to get a redo on.
Carrie: oh yes please! As long as we can keep the wisdom we’ve since gained lol.
Q: When you walk into a bookstore, where do you head first?
Sharee: Bookstores are one of my most favorite places. I love wandering down the aisles and looking at my favorite authors and brand new to me authors. BUT if it’s not a Christian bookstore, then first I head to the Christian fiction section, and then straight to the suspense shelves.
Carrie: a woman after my own heart 🙂
Q: What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever Googled while researching a book?
Sharee: I had to choose this question because you wouldn’t believe some of the things I’ve had to Google research. Keep in mind, I write suspense, so I’ve had to find everything from weapons to poisons and decomposition on human remains. I think the weirdest one had to be militias. There are some STRANGE websites out there and after awhile I decided it’s safer to hit the library and look for reference materials there.
Q: Do you have the whole plot outlined before you start writing, or do you let the characters dictate what comes next?
Sharee: I like to think of myself as a PLANTSER that’s part pantser, part plotter. If the truth be known, I’m far more a plotter, with the caveat that I reserve the right to change my mind about the story at any time. 😊 I work with a complete plot outlined before I start writing. This helps me, especially when I have a lot of interruptions as I’m writing. However, as the story develops, so do the characters. They come to life for me and their voices, mannerisms, wants, and fears all take shape as words fill page. In that respect, the characters adjust the story slightly to incorporate those changes.
Carrie: the best of both plotting worlds!
Q: What is one of your favorite quotes from Untraceable Evidence & why do you love it?
Sharee: One of my favorite quotes in Untraceable Evidence is spoken by Elias Archer, Randee’s mentor. He reminds Randee God is in control and trusting Him doesn’t mean we live with our eyes closed to reality. Rather, we trust God while facing reality.
Elias tells Randee,
“You trust God and let Him guide you, while acknowledging what will break your heart. Because kid, in your case, it might save your life.”
Carrie: such important advice & very timely!
Thank you so much for taking time to talk with me! 🙂 Before we say goodbye for today, tell us what‘s coming up next for you.
Sharee: I just completed the edits on Grave Christmas Danger which is the second book in this ATF series and it will release in November. So far, it’s my very favorite! And, it’s never too early to think about Christmas, right?! I had a wonderful time researching the story and cannot wait for it to hit the shelves. At the moment, I’m working on the last book in this series which will release in 2021.
Carrie: yay for Christmas suspense!!
