Hi Alexis! Welcome back to the blog!

Alexis: Apples because of all the amazing desserts I can make with it: apple pie, apple cake, apple crisp, caramel apple cupcakes…

Carrie: yum!

Alexis: Summer because I cannot stand cold weather!

Carrie: I’m the exact opposite! Bring on the snow!

Alexis: Autumn Squash Soup from PANERA’s Fall Season menu AND their Mediterranean Veggie Sandwich!

Carrie: I love their French onion soup!

Alexis: Ebooks for my Kindle are easy to store and read but there’s still something irreplaceable about a brand new paperback book!

Carrie: very true!

Q: Around here I like to say that reading is my superpower. If YOU had a superpower, what would it be?

Alexis: If I had a superpower, it would be strong self-discipline because that would benefit my health AND my writing!

Carrie: that would be a great superpower to have!

Q: Other than the Bible, what are five of your most cherished books?

Alexis:

#1: Deck the Shelves by Toni Shiloh
#2: After the Rain by Brandy Bruce
#3: The Bashful Bride by Vanessa Riley
#4: Meant to Be Mine by Becky Wade
#5: Gentle Like the Rain: A Heart’s Design Novel by JoAnn Durgin

Carrie: Meant to Be Mine is one of my all-time fave books! (And Toni’s new series will be another all-time fave!)

Q: What do you enjoy most about writing?

Alexis: Character creation because I love making up new fictional people who are multilayered and inspiring then watching how their stories play out as I write the book!

Carrie: that would be fun!

Q: Why is the theme of Stories and Songs of Faith: My Journey with God important to you?

Alexis: The theme of my devotional book borrows from the title (Stories and Songs of Faith: My Journey with God) because in each devotional, you’ll find my personal stories paired with some of my favorite songs that inspire and encourage my heart. These are all faith-based songs that I hope will lead my readers closer to the heart of the God who loves them with all of His Heart!

Carrie: Music ministers to me so often & has throughout my own journey with God ♥

Q: What is something that surprised you the most while researching this book?

Alexis: Nothing, really, was a surprise for me because I didn’t really research my devotional book; God downloaded devotional ideas into my mind and helped me form spiritual lessons as I observed everyday life, watched movies, spoke with real people, heard songs … inspiration was everywhere!

Carrie: You can learn a lot of spiritual truths by observing!

Q: What is something God taught you while you wrote Stories and Songs of Faith: My Journey with God?

Alexis: God taught me SO many lessons as I wrote each of the 52 devotionals in this book! One of those lessons that I still know I need to work on applying more today is from my devotional titled “Our Greatest Resource.” It was through writing that devotional that God taught me an important lesson: He helped me realize that He is my greatest resource and I need to turn to Him for help before I turn to anyone else. The people in our life may be able to help us but eventually they run out of resources. However, God’s resources are unlimited and He never wearies of us coming to Him for help. He knows us better than anyone else. He can help us with anything and everything that affects us!

Carrie: Amen. So very true. Thankful for Him.

Thank you so much for taking time to talk with me! 🙂 Before we say goodbye for today, tell us what‘s coming up next for you.

Alexis: Thanks for hosting me on your blog today, Carrie! I appreciate you.

I’m taking a break from writing books. But when I return, I hope to write Contemporary Romance stories for Hallmark Publishing. God-willing, I plan to continue writing nonfiction in the form of devotionals for faith-based blogs and faith-based publications! I’d love for God to send me an agent to represent my work and help me meet my other book writing dreams such as my books being made into movies for the Hallmark Channel and mainstream, having my books translated into other languages, and having my books sold in bookstores across America and around the world!
