Happy Friday! And welcome to First Line Friday, hosted by Hoarding Books!!! Since it’s Friday, it’s time to grab the book nearest to you and leave a comment with the first line. Today, I’m featuring the first line of Relative Silence by Carrie Stuart Parks, currently on tour with JustRead Publicity Tours, LLC (the company I own with my book sisters).

and the first line of Relative Silence is…

The piercing scream ripped up my spine.

A powerful family with dark secrets.

After personal tragedy, Piper Boone retreats to her childhood home—a secluded mansion for the wealthy Boone family, who are practically American royalty. When catastrophe strikes, her family is put in the spotlight, and the line between victim and suspect gets blurred.

A forensic artist with his own haunting past.

Tucker Landry is drawn to Piper in the midst of the trauma, but the connections being made to her family might prove to be their undoing. With a hurricane beating down on the private island, there isn’t much time to find answers.

The truth will determine whether she lives or dies.

  1. That book sounds interesting, Carrie! I’m reading The Marquess Meets His Match by Julie Coulter Bellon. “Lady Alice Huntingdon scanned the ballroom again as she moved through the steps of the quadrille, her gaze quickly flicking over the flower arrangements and ice sculptures her mother, the Duchess of Huntingdon, had ordered for the ball tonight.”

I really want to read this series!

My first line is from Acceptable Risk by Lynette Eason

    Chapter 2
    September. Helmed Province, Afghanistan

Sarah Denning sat on the dirt floor of the Afghani prison cell and shivered in the hinety-degree heat, fighting the fear that had been her constant companion since the Taliban had attacked the school yesterday.

  3. I’m currently reading The London Restoration by Rachel McMillan. I’m just beginning chapter 10, so I’ll share from there:
“The only other time Diana had been at Brent’s flat -her flat- in Clerkenwell alone was when she was packing her suitcase to leave for Buckinghamshire.”
I hope you have a great weekend! 😀❤📚

This is a very good book. I enjoyed it. This is the first line from Dead End Detective by Amanda Flower:
How did this become my life?

  5. Diana Hardt

My first line is from Sisters of Summer’s End by Lori Foster. After dropping her son off at school, Joy Lee returned to Cooper’s Charm, the RV resort where she worked and lived.
