Happy Friday! And welcome to First Line Friday, hosted by Hoarding Books!!! Since it’s Friday, it’s time to grab the book nearest to you and leave a comment with the first line. Today, I’m featuring the first line of Falling for the Innkeeper by Meghann Whistler, currently on tour with JustRead Publicity Tours, LLC (the company I own with my book sisters).

and the first lines are…

Jonathan Masters pulled up in front of The Sea Glass Inn, turned off his GPS, and sighed. How had he gotten himself into this?

She’s the home he never expected to find.

A battle for a charming Cape Cod inn…
But what happens when romance checks in?

Single mom Laura Lessoway won’t accept her mother’s plan of selling her late grandmother’s inn without a fight. But when big-city attorney Jonathan Masters arrives to arrange an offer from his client, she’s drawn to him. And working together as he helps with repairs only brings them closer. With his career and her home on the line, can they ever find common ground?

I just finished Love and a Little White Lie by Tammy L. Gray and it is great! The first line from it is:
I’ve face-planted myself into rock bottom.

  2. “Never would I believe I would meet you here.” From Well, Girl, by Jami Amerine. On the back, the first line is “If you’re skinny, fat, short, tall, or somewhere in between…” On my TBR list. Soon. 🙂

  3. Suzanne Sellner

I’m reading Jill Eileen Smith’s The Crimson Cord about Rahab. The first line is “Rahab draped the pale blue scarf over her head and shivered in the predawn chill.”

I think Falling for the Innkeeper sounds like an exciting book and would love to read it.

  4. “Life was not unlike the wisp of fog that curled around the base of a grave marker, softly caressing the marble before dissolving into the violet shadows of the night.”
(Eerie but poetic, as only Jaime Jo Wright can write them!) From Haunting at Bonaventure Circus.

It does not take much to remain unseen in a house like this. The Peacock Summer by Hannah Richell.

  6. Paula Shreckhise

My first lines are from MINUTES TO DIE by Susan Sleeman:
    Chapter 1
Exposed. Kiley felt exposed. Standing there. In the dark. Waiting. Waiting.

  7. Roxanne C.

“Hang on a little longer, my lamb.” ~ The first sentence from Reluctant Bride by Jody Hedlund… And I see a spiritual message in it!

  8. Francis Jerome Mles

    from When Invisible Children Sing
“How often do you see girls like Mercedes?” I asked her
    Girls like what? she asks
    Girls who cut themselves

Nice cover. I liked the blurb. It sounds like a wonderful book. Thank you for sharing.
My first line is from Echoes by Danielle Steel. It was a lazy summer afternoon as Beata Wittgenstein strolled along the shores of Lake Geneva with her parents.

  10. Happy Friday! 🙂
I’m currently reading A Life Once Dreamed by Rachel Fordham. I’m on chapter seven so I’ll share the first line from there:
“Sam Landon made his way over to the schoolhouse, toolbox in one hand, lunch tin in the other.”
I hope you have an excellent weekend! 🙂❤📚
