Life has been comfortable for the Miller family. Liz and Josh have devoted their lives to raising their two sons. Their oldest son, Colby, reached adulthood and set out on his own. A few hard knocks sent him back to live with Mom and Dad until life got to be too much, that is. As Liz and Josh grapple with the hole in their hearts left by Colby’s early departure from this world, they find themselves at odds with one another and with their faith.
Will they remember that Jesus is enough in the middle of this dark storm? Will they see through their own pain and help each other and their teenage son, Tyler, learn to live despite the grief?

Writing has been my go-to when I needed to process tough emotions since I was probably eight or nine years old. I still have old journals where I wrote out how I was feeling or made poems to express myself.
I thought fiction was going to be like a playground for my mind – and it is, sometimes. Writing We Go On really challenged me to see how profound words can be. I only knew the tip of the iceberg when God called me to this story.
While I definitely was able to dive into my imagination, I also had to work through some really painful things. While I was too young to understand what happened, my uncle took his own life. I may not remember him, but I know the impact he has on my mom both in life and in death. My mom has struggled with suicide, too. I’m thankful she is still with us.
My son also attempted to take his own life in 2018. It was a harrowing experience, and since then, I’ve seen this thread through and around my life of people who have struggled with suicide, both directly and indirectly.
What I didn’t know, was how much stuff I needed to work through as I wrote this novel. I went off the page numerous times to sort out my own heart and the things that were coming up. I spent a lot of time praying, too. Over myself and my family as I dove into this often dark topic, and over my readers. I want people to find the hope in the story, although I know it takes reading some hard stuff first. My prayer is that this book winds up in the hands of the people that God directs it to.
I was reminded over and over again that God carries us through hard things and that He is our ever-present help in our times of need. I hope and pray I conveyed that well in We Go On.
Regina Walker was born in the beautiful state of Colorado. She moved to Oklahoma in her late teen years, where she has resided ever since. She likes to curl up on the couch and binge-watch crime shows with her hard-working husband. When she’s not wrestling with a writing project, she can be found wrangling their children, riding their horses, or tending the garden. Along with finding horses on their small farm, chickens, dogs, and cats can be found at nearly every turn.
Regina crafts compelling characters facing some of life’s hardest challenges. Her heart’s desire is to always point toward Jesus through the way her characters face challenges, relationships, and adversity.
