Know joy. Keep joy. Live joy!

Joy can feel elusive when defined by how you feel in a given moment or what your circumstances are at the present. Sometimes joy feels like it can be taken away, even when things are good.

During a long season, Suzanne Eller discovered six surprising biblical truths about joy. Those truths helped her see joy and God in a new light. You are invited to embrace those same truths! JoyKeeper will help you

· replace the need to hide emotions with honesty about how you feel
· redefine joy from an up-and-down feeling to who God is in the right-now
· discover how joy guides you through the hard places as well as the good
· run freely to your Source of joy, rather than try to do it on your own
· confront everyday joy stealers to live day-to-day as a JoyKeeper

Thirty practical and inspirational daily exercises are also included so you can intentionally practice these truths.

Includes a small-group study guide

Hi Suzie! Welcome to the blog!

Suzie: Cats. They are snuggly and lots of fun.

Carrie: I have never met a snuggly cat but I will take your word for it 🙂

Suzie: Music. While I write. While I work. While I hang out.

Carrie: Me too. Music is almost always on in our house.

Suzie: I love board games. I live with a play therapist, so it’s kind of a given. : )

Carrie: how fun!

Suzie: I do both, but favor Ebook. A paper book feels awkward in my hands now when I try to read that way.

Carrie: I’ve had that experience too – funny how we get so used to one way or the other.

Q: Around here I like to say that reading is my superpower. If YOU had a superpower, what would it be?

Suzie: Laughing. I get the giggles easily and love to laugh with those I love.

Carrie: I love that! You would fit into my family well haha

Q: When you walk into a bookstore, where do you head first?

Suzie: I am a nonfiction writer but I walk straight to the fiction aisle. I love a good story. My first agent picked me up because she loved my fiction writing. Here I am 20 years later with 11 nonfiction books under my belt.

Carrie: We definitely love stories around here 🙂

Q: If I snuck a peek in your purse right now (which I would never do, I promise!), what would it tell me about you?

Suzie: That I love gum. I will always have some sort of fun gum in my purse. Not the sugar-free kind. Gumballs. Juicy Fruit. Razzles. That sort of gum.

Carrie: i love that!

Q: Why is the theme of JoyKeeper important to you?

Suzie: Joy can feel complicated or tenuous, and yet it’s there even in the hardest places. In a time of deep sorrow, I found that joy is not merely a feeling; it’s a knowing.

Carrie: that’s so true – and a reminder we all need right now in these stressful times

Q: What is something that surprised you the most while researching JoyKeeper?

Suzie: I found six truths about joy that defy how we normally see it. I discovered joy stealers that most of us encounter, and how to meet that with truth. What surprised me about this is that it completely redefined what it means to live in joy.

Carrie: I’m looking forward to reading it!

Q: What is one of your favorite quotes from JoyKeeper?

Suzie: When we are honest with God, we are not only able to feel but to heal.

Carrie: honesty is key for our own healing. He already knows anyway lol

Thank you so much for taking time to talk with me! 🙂

  1. Loved that favorite quote Suzie shared from JoyKeeper. And I think we probably all need all the help we can get at this particular moment in history to keep our joy going strong, huh? 🙂

  2. Rachel T Taylor

Finding joy as more than a feeling. Knowing what the lies are and being able to fight them with truth.

  3. Sonnetta Jones

Joy is a subject that is not spoken about a lot. I definitely want to experience the joy that God speaks about in the bible.

I’d like to try the 30 experience inspirational exercises and make time in my day for listening to the quieting of my heart.
