Top Ten Tuesday: These Books Are Making Me Hungry

Posted September 1, 2020 by meezcarrie in Christian, contemporary, cozy mystery, mystery/suspense, romance, Top Ten Tuesday / 9 Comments

Happy Tuesday! Today’s Top Ten Tuesday theme is books that make us hungry. I’ve done some similarly themed posts in the past – one related to just cozy mysteries (a couple of which make an appearance today too because I love them) and a cover love post featuring baked goods (yum!). But this time I’m focusing on a variety of genres with a focus (however subtle) on food, books that are making me hungry even as I put together this post haha!

two blue doors series

by Hillary Manton Lodge

Just the taglines for these novels by Hillary Manton Lodge have me drooling!
A Novel of Family Secrets and Heirloom Recipes
A Novel of Fresh Flavors and New Horizons
A Novel of Lost Love and Second Helpings

maple run series

by Toni Shiloh

The delectable recipes that The Maple Pit kitchen turns out still have me craving their maple-y goodness. Especially that maple fried chicken! Each of the heroes in the Maple Run series by Toni Shiloh are yummy too … but that’s for a different post 😉

down south cafe mysteries

by Gayle Leeson

Besides absolutely loving Aunt Bess & her Pinterest boards, I start craving southern comfort food – especially breakfast – as the Down South Cafe serves up a delicious menu of faves, courtesy of author Gayle Leeson.

Cat Latimer mysteries

by Lynn Cahoon

With all the droolworthy food that Shauna prepares for Cat’s writers’ retreats in the Cat Latimer Mysteries by Lynn Cahoon, it makes me wish she’d run a retreat for book reviewers soon too 😉

Supper club series

by Carla Laureano

I am not typically a gourmet eater… however I pretty much want to eat everything that Rachel whips up in the Supper Club series by Carla Laureano – and let’s not talk about how yummy Melody’s baked goods & pastries sound!

the romano family collection

by Brandy Bruce

In this ‘trio of romances flavored with grace’, – Table for Two, Second Chance Cafe, & Recipe for Love – Brandy Bruce mixes delicious food and lovable characters!

a match for emma

by Pepper Basham

Everything that Ma Mitchell makes sounds yummy in the Mitchell’s Crossroads series but throw in Emma’s culinary talent & experimentations in A Match for Emma by Pepper Basham – and I drooled over more than just Jon Noble & his friend Liam!

Hadley Beckett’s Next Dish

by Bethany Turner

Two polar-opposite chefs who each host their own popular cooking shows equals plenty of opportunity to make me hungry – plus Bethany’s delightful writing is icing on the proverbial cake!

With No Reservations

by Laurie Tomlinson

My review for With No Reservations by Laurie Tomlinson came with a warning – “don’t read this book if you’re hungry because it will cause cravings for all the delicious food served within these pages!” 🙂

stay with me

by Becky Wade

Sam’s farm-to-table restaurant in Stay With Me by Becky Wade sounds fabulously yummy (so does Sam, for that matter) & when he cooks for Genevieve … blissful swoon!

What about you? What are some books that were making you hungry when you read them? Did you get hungry reading any of the books from my list?

So many good books up here! I haven’t read Brandy’s or Lynn Cahoon’s yet. Thanks for featuring the Maple Run crew!

Just finished the Two Blue Doors series…I LOVED it so much, and the recipes in there have actually inspired me to cook something that’s a little more involved once in a while!

  3. Great list, Carrie! I gushed over the Two Blue Doors series for ages. 🙂 Right now I’m reading an older one—Secrets by Kristen Heitzmann—and I’m *really* sad that Lance can’t actually come make me a lasagna, hahaha!
