I was so excited when I found out that the group of authors who brought us the Return of the Blackwell Brothers series are back with The Blackwell Sisters – recently discovered granddaughters of Big E Blackwell, cousins to the aforementioned brothers. I jumped on the chance to read & review Montana Match, and I binge-read the first three books this week too. You can check out my reviews for Montana Welcome (here), Montana Wishes (here), and Montana Dreams (here).
I love Fiona and Simon and their meet-cute, their flirting, their friendship, and their kisses. Fiona is the baby of the family, more free spirited than her older sisters but equally as smart and talented. Simon is completely charming and a little brooding but it’s clear he has a great sense of humor and loves deeply once he gives his heart or loyalty to someone. Their chemistry is immediate and cute, and I really loved how Fiona could be herself around Simon even while she was trying to change to meet other people’s expectations. Actually, both characters struggle with other people’s expectations in different ways. Speaking of their chemistry, there is a scene at the end of the book where Simon locks eyes with Fiona and oh sweet mercy my heart nearly stopped at the intensity of the moment. Loved these two!
And oh my goodness, let’s talk about Luke and Simon. These BFFs are hilarious together but will defend each other to the death – the author captures a bro friendship perfectly. Their texts had me laughing out loud more than once & I loved how seamlessly Fee fits into their relationship. Please, please, please tell me that we will see Luke again as a leading man in an upcoming Carol Ross novel! He is by far my favorite secondary character in this series, and I would love to spend more time with him.
Bottom Line: Montana Match is the kind of novel that instantly ropes you in and keeps you raptly turning the pages until the very end – and even then you’re not ready for it to be over because you love hanging out in Falcon Creek. Ross crafts layered & delightful characters which capture your affection, and she weaves a plot that’s sincere and heartfelt. A last-minute twist will have you counting down the days until Montana Wedding releases, and I’m definitely looking forward to Georgie’s story and the conclusion of the subplot that has connected each book in this fabulous series.
(I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the publisher. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.)
My Rating: 4.5 stars / LOVED it!
KissingBook Level: 3+ / will forget to breathe on occasion
USA Today bestselling author Carol Ross grew up in small town America right between the Pacific Ocean and the Cascade Mountains, in a place where you can go deep sea fishing in the morning and then hit the ski slopes the same afternoon. The daughter of what is now known as free range parents, she developed a love of the outdoors at a very early age. As a writer, Carol loves to breathe the life she has lived into the characters she creates, grateful for the “research material” that every questionable decision, adrenaline-charged misstep, and near-death experience has provided.
