Please join me in welcoming Joan Aubele to the blog today to talk about her book, The Dance!
Joan Aubele was born and raised in Chicago, and resides in rural Lake Holiday, Illinois, with her husband Carl. They’ve raised three daughters, and to date, have four grandchildren. Several years ago, Joan’s oldest daughter treated her to a weekend inspirational, Christian women’s conference. She dreamt of someday being one of those speakers, to help make a difference in people’s lives. Although spending time with her family remains her number one priority, Joan is now fulfilling her dream of becoming one of those speakers and is currently bringing her inspirational story to Churches, Hospitals, and Libraries.

Twenty-five years in the making, Joan, or Joanie, as she is known to friends and family, humbly shares her story of triumph as an inspiration to all.

Hi Joan! Welcome to the blog!
Joan: Winter is beautiful and although Christmas has been my favorite Holiday since I was a little girl, there’s something to be said about watching laughing children run through the sprinkler and walking barefoot through the warm grass!
Carrie: as long as I can watch said laughing children from the air-conditioning lol
Joan: Although I love the smell of hubby’s morning coffee, I never quite acquired the taste. The girls in my family are serious tea drinkers though. Me, my daughters, & my mother-in-law have solved many world problems over a nicely brewed pot! Come to think of it, the tradition really began fifty-five years ago with my Grandmother and our daily ice tea & Nabisco cookie breaks.
Carrie: aww what a lovely memory!
Joan: Over – because I like to have control over the little things in my life. LOL
Joan: Definitely board games, I don’t mean to brag, but I rock at Chutes & Ladders😊
Carrie: LOL! I’ll keep that in mind 🙂
Q: Around here I like to say that reading is my superpower. If YOU had a superpower, what would it be?
Joan: To have a magic eraser that makes all the suffering, despair, and fear in the world disappear.
Carrie: One day, God will make all the sad things untrue – waiting eagerly for that day!
Q: Who is your favorite book character from childhood?
Joan: Nancy Drew, she was always so clever and thought she had the coolest outfits!
Carrie: So true – and a roadster!
Q: What do you enjoy most about writing?
Joan: Going down memory lane, and recalling all the wonderfully supportive people I have been blessed with in my life.
Carrie: aww i love that!
Q: Why is the theme of The Dance so important to you?
Joan: When I was going through my cancer journey thirty years ago, there were no inspirational figures out there for me to lean on. I therefore want to be that person for someone in need, to bring them closer to God, and to remind them they are never truly alone.
Carrie: Amen ♥
Q: What is something God taught you while you wrote The Dance?
Joan: To always listen to His voice. My memory is shot due to numerous brain traumas, so I know the Holy Spirit guided me, He’d tell me “Don’t forget this Joanie!”
Carrie: He’s so sweet to us, isn’t He?
Thank you so much for taking time to talk with me! 🙂 Before we say goodbye for today, tell us what‘s coming up next for you.
Joan: My next project, ‘Hearts Ablaze’ is currently being edited and I look forward to again bringing readers closer to Christ.
