One case haunts him. One chance to fix the past. One mistake could cost him everything.

Ex-Minneapolis Police Detective Rembrandt Stone walked away from a career he loved—just the price of being sure he can come home to the wife and daughter he cherishes. But he can’t shake the deep regret over a case left behind.

When his mentor, the former Chief of Homicide dies and leaves Rembrandt with a box of cold cases and a mysterious watch, he finds himself thrust into a world he recognizes—a world from twenty years ago—the same world he’s woken from in a cold sweat a hundred times. But is it a dream, or some kind of twisted reality?

If he solves the case that plagues him, and justice is finally served, will it destroy the life he loves?

Strap in for a mind-bending, time travel thrill ride in Book One of this riveting new series, The True Lies of Rembrandt Stone.

Q: Which books are currently ‘on your nightstand’?

Susie: I’m so excited to read a preview copy of Nicole Deese’s next book, All That Really Matters!  I love her voice!

Carrie: ooo me too!

Q: If I asked Rembrandt Stone to describe ‘David James Warren’ as an author, what would he say?

Susie: Focused. Determined. Creative. Driven and very handsome. 😊

Carrie: love it!

Q: How did the writing process work with three of you writing as one author?

Susie: Oh, we had SO much fun! It was like sitting on the back porch with your friends, talking through a story and they can sort of read your mind, and you can read theirs… Once we brainstormed the story, Susie May (me) took it home and I started writing it. Since David lived with me, it was easy to brainstorm with him, but I also got on the phone with Jim for long conversations. It was such a blast to work with two guys who love Rem as much as I do. We were all committed to getting Rem, and the stories, right.

Carrie: I would have loved to be a fly on the wall during those brainstorming sessions – except I hate flies haha

Q: What do readers need to know about Rembrandt Stone, the character? In what ways will they relate to him?

Susie: Rem is every person who has regrets and wish they could go back in time and do something different. Except, what if our regrets and mistakes make us better people? The people who we are today? And what would we miss if we didn’t have them to guide us?  Rem loves his wife, his daughter, but inside him still lives a much younger man who enjoys his classic music and muscle cars. I think my readers will fall in love with Rem as much as I have!

Carrie: I can’t wait to meet him on the pages!

Q: What is one of your favorite quotes from Cast the First Stone & why do you love it?

Susie: Oh man—so many! I just love Rem’s voice. My favorite line comes from my favorite scene. “Apparently Inspector Rembrandt Stone was all business, whether he was solving crimes or making a move.” I love how Rem has to romance his wife all over again, and he is using all the tricks he knows about her to get her into his arms…But this line is written from Eve’s POV, and I love that she has no clue about the man she’s really kissing….

Thank you for having me on the blog! XOXO!

Carrie: thank YOU for chatting with me – it’s always a treat to hang out with you, even if only virtually 🙂
