At the dignified age of eighteen, Phoebe Jamison knows she should behave in a manner befitting her station, as her three loving elder brothers often tease. Unfortunately, the lively young woman has a personality every bit as fiery as her red hair, a fact brought to her attention in the criticism from the gentleman she has long pined for. But not every man is of the opinion that a woman should be decorous above all else. The newest resident of Somerset, Mr. Franklin Everly, is considered a most eligible bachelor, and he is immediately drawn to Phoebe’s spirited nature as he becomes acquainted with the delightful Jamison siblings of Primly Park.

Franklin embarks on a friendship with Phoebe that quickly deepens into a warm and thrilling connection. But even as he fights for Phoebe’s attentions, a very real danger is revealed: girls in neighboring villages have gone missing, and the kidnapper is moving ever closer to Primly Park. Despite the guard of her fiercely protective brothers and Franklin, Phoebe must rely on her own strength when she finds herself in the sights of the Bride Snatcher.

Chalon Linton is quickly becoming a go-to author for me. She writes with such warmth and wit and affection between her characters that I just want to curl up inside the pages and stay a while. This is only my second read by her (my first was her contemporary romance Flying in Love) but I definitely want to catch up on her backlist & I’m looking forward to her future releases too!

While not officially part of a series, Forever Phoebe is connected to Linton’s 2019 novel, Escape to Everly Manor. I haven’t read that one yet (but now I want to) and wasn’t lost at all; I was just aware that there is a little more backstory to Franklin’s family than we’re getting in this novel.

Speaking of… Franklin Everly = SWOON. He’s dashing and considerate, with a big heart and an easy grin. And he winks, be still my heart. Best of all, once he falls for Phoebe he falls completely, and I just adore reading about a man that is so gone over the woman he loves. Phoebe is a delightful heroine and, though she might be stubborn (as most good Regency heroines are haha) and have abysmal cooking skills, she is also smart, witty, kind & loving. I thoroughly enjoyed watching these two fall in love even if I did want to shake the cluelessness out of Phoebe a time or two.

And let’s not forget Phoebe’s brothers who were nearly my favorite part of the book. I mean, they can’t quite top the romance factor for me but they came very close to doing so. Their banter was hilarious, and I loved how protective they were over Phoebe while also letting her be herself. They genuinely care for her – and for each other – but still maintained their ‘guy-ness’ throughout. While we do get a bonus romance involving one of Phoebe’s brothers I would LOVE to watch the other two meet their respective ‘one’ and fall in love too. (hint, hint for future books lol)

Bottom Line: Forever Phoebe is a delightful Regency romance with a little bit of everything to add to its appeal. Romance, suspense, humor, friendship, and Love saving the day (though not exactly the way you might think) all combine with the author’s warm writing voice to make this a story that engages and entertains you. I think I pretty much grinned through the whole thing, and I’m eager to read more from this author!

(I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. I also bought a copy on Kindle so I could read it in bed lol. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.)

My Rating: 4 stars / Love it!

KissingBook Level: 3+ / will forget to breathe on more than one occasion

I enjoy reading historical fiction and learning more about the Regency period. The heroine being a red-head reminds me of the wildness of the young anne in Anne of Green Gables.
