Happy Friday! And welcome to First Line Friday, hosted by Hoarding Books!!! Since it’s Friday, it’s time to grab the book nearest to you and leave a comment with the first line. Today, I’m featuring the first line of Her Every Move by Kelly Irvin, currently on tour with JustRead Publicity Tours, LLC (the company I own with my book sisters).
and the first line is…
“Jackie Santoro checked her smartwatch for the fifth time.”
He’s a cop trying to stop a serial bomber. And she’ll stop at nothing to clear her own name.
When a deadly bomb goes off during a climate change debate, librarian and event coordinator Jackie Santoro becomes the prime suspect. Her motive, according to Detective Avery Wick: to avenge the suicide of her prominent father, who was accused of crimes by a city councilman attending the event.
Though Avery has doubts about Jackie’s guilt, he can’t exonerate her even after an extremist group takes responsibility for the bombing and continues to attack San Antonio’s treasured public spaces.
As Jackie tries to hold her shattered family together, she has no choice but to proceed with plans for the Caterina Ball, the library system’s biggest annual fundraiser. But she also fears the event provides the perfect opportunity for the bomber to strike again.
Despite their mistrust, Jackie and Avery join forces to unmask the truth—before the death toll mounts even higher.
Bestseller Kelly Irvin is back with a nail-biting romantic suspense where nothing is certain until the very last page.

“Jacob Marley is dead!”
Looked up to see Gillian Kaminski beside me. My friend looked too unhappy for someone surrounded by choo choo trains and toy Alpine villages.
HOLLYBERRY HOMICIDE by Sharon Farrow
I’ve read Her Every Move and like all of Irwin’s books, it’s outstanding. She really does give us a variety of possible villains to fear and hate until the very last page. I highly recommend it!
My first line is from A Dance in Donegal by Jennifer Deibel.
Boston. October 1920
The grandfather clock downstairs chimed the hour, its clangs all too reminiscent of the funeral bells presiding over Mother’s funeral just yesterday morning.
Really want to Read Her Every Move!

Happy Friday! My first line is from “Lacewood” by Jessica James:
” “Recalculating.” Katie McCain smacked the steering wheel with both hands and then glared at the navigation screen.”
This comes from Delayed Justice by Shirlee McCoy. Sasha Eastman had never been afraid to stand on a crowded street corner in Sheepshead Bay, New York. She’d waited at crosswalks hundreds of times, standing amid throngs of people all staring at phones or streetlights and then flowing like lemmings across the roads. She had always felt safe and content in the life she had created. And then he’d appeared. First, just at the edge of her periphery–a quick glimpse that made her blood run cold.
Looks like a good book!
