Top Ten Tuesday: Characters With a Job I Would Love to Have

Happy Tuesday! Today’s theme for Top Ten Tuesday is characters with a job I would love to have. I’m pretty much doing my dream job right now – helping authors promote their books & introducing them to new readers! But there are a few other jobs I’d enjoy doing if ever given the chance. There’s only one realistic one, though (because, let’s face it, ain’t no way this bulbous body of mine will ever qualify for the FBI hahaha) – owning a bookstore! Here are some of my fave characters who own a bookstore ….

Kendall Jackson runs The Cozy Shelf in Deck the Shelves by Toni Shiloh.

Jill Gardner runs Coffee, Books, and More in Lynn Cahoon’s Tourist Trap Mysteries.

Ginny Rose owns Rosebud Books & Sophia helps her run it in The Secrets of Paper and Ink by Lindsay Harrel.

In Melanie Dobson’s Hidden Among the Stars Callie Randall owns the Magic Balloon Bookshop with her sister.

In the Sherlock Holmes Bookshop Mysteries by Vicki Delany, Gemma Doyle runs the Sherlock Holmes Bookshop and Emporium.

Madeline Cullen inherits the titular bookstore in Katherine Reay’s The Printed Letter Bookshop.

Clara Blackwell runs the Blackwell Bookshop in the upcoming Hope Between The Pages by Pepper Basham.

Samantha Washington owns the Market Street Mysteries Bookstore in the Mystery Bookshop series by V.M. Burns.

Nora Pennington owns Miracle Books in The Secret, Book & Scone Society series by Ellery Adams.

In The Cottingley Secret by Hazel Gaynor, Olivia Kavanagh inherits the Something Old Bookshop.

What about you? Which of these characters with a job I would love have you met on the pages? What’s a job you would love to do – have you read any books with characters that have that job?

  1. Wow. tore owners and clerks. I went off the board this week because I couldn’t remember anyone’s professions except for the teachers and since I’m one that wasn’t fun. Check out my off the board list please. Thanks you. My TTTLots of books

  2. I worked in a book store a hundred years ago. 😉 Really fun job. I wouldn’t give up my retired status, except for doing that again. I wouldn’t want to own one though. 25 years of helping my husband with a small business killed that urge!

  3. Toni Shiloh

I’d love to own a bookstore which is probably why I had so much fun with Kendall. 🙂

  4. Paula Shreckhise

Books, books, books and more books!
I’m doing what I love in retirement: reading and reviewing Christian fiction!
    Back to reading……..

  5. Gloria A

I think that Jill Gardner has the perfect job with her bookstore selling coffee and pastries as well.. Oh and solving crimes. 🙂

  6. Not just a thread–a whole wonderful skein with great designs coming from it. Piles of books in my bedroom and office are looking like a bookstore. I’ll bet that’s true for Meez Carrie, too, and, sigh, for all book lovers really! We can’t’ help ourselves!
