Crazy For You JustRead Blog + Review Tour

Welcome to the Blog + Review Tour for Crazy for You by Michelle Sass Aleckson presented by Susan May Warren, hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours! I’m so excited to chat with Michelle today about her new book!

Crazy for YouTitle: Crazy for You
Series: Deep Haven Collection #3
Author: Michelle Sass Aleckson presented by Susan May Warren
Publisher: Sunrise Publishing
Release Date: May 25, 2021
Genre: Christian Contemporary Romance

The problem with being related to everyone in town is that there is no one left to date…until now…but will this outsider survive his family?

Former soldier Veronica “Ronnie” Morales isn’t going to let her kid brother, Tiago, get pulled into the gangs of Minneapolis, so, seeking safety and a fresh start, she heads to sleepy Deep Haven on the north shore of Minnesota. She’s hoping to put down roots as the paramedic for the new Crisis Response Team, but it’s not easy to be the town outsider.

Fire Chief Peter Dahlquist is a peacemaker—he has to be. After he’s related to both of the Deep Haven dynasties – the Zimmermans and the Dahlquists, Deep Haven’s version of the Hatfields and the McCoys. Worse, Peter is the holdout vote for a landmark project, which also makes him the loneliest guy in town when both sides demand that he pick sides. The only one who seems to understand his plight is the newcomer in town…his pretty, street-tough paramedic.

When Tiago finds himself caught up in small town shenanigans and the town blames Ronnie for tragedy, Peter is forced to pick sides. But will his choice cost him the home—and the woman—he loves?

Hi Michelle! Welcome to the blog!

Michelle: Don’t make me choose! LOL! I really do enjoy both. It totally depends on my mood. I have a gajillion different teas in my cupboard and tea drawer, and the coffee maker is almost always brewing in our house.

Carrie: haha!

Michelle: Netflix. I love a variety of genres in my entertainment. I want action and suspense as well as the romance.

Carrie: I just can’t seem to get into Netflix and while I don’t often watch the regular Hallmark Channel, I’m a big fan of their mysteries channel!

Michelle: Music! Especially if I need to clean or work physically in any way. Music moves me while audiobooks distract me. I would just want to curl up and listen.

Carrie: yes! exactly! I’ve never understood how some people can clean or cook or whatever & listen to audiobooks – I would never be able to tell you what the book was about if i did that lol

Michelle: Over, of course. I’m not a savage! 😉

Carrie: LOL duly noted

Michelle: Ocean! I grew up in California and Georgia, in both places very close to the coasts, so the ocean has a special place in my heart. It is equally invigorating and calming. I could sit and watch the waves for hours. And now I live about as far away from an ocean as one can get. Sad! But we have a summer vacay planned for the Pacific Coast and I cannot wait!  I’ll get the best of both worlds since we’ll drive through the Rocky Mountains to get there. 😊

Carrie: oh that sounds like fun!

Q: Around here I like to say that reading is my superpower. If YOU had a superpower, what would it be?

Michelle: Well since Mom-taxi sounds kinda lame, I’ll go with I’m kind of a Jack-of-all-crafts. I will dabble in making soaps, lotions, and lip balms as well as crocheting, sewing, drawing, woodburning, and I just bought a kit to learn embroidery. I’m by no means an expert at any of them, but I love creating things I can give as gifts.  I should add a caveat though: my attention span is short, so they have to be small projects!

Carrie: I have always wanted to be a crafty type of person but I am just not gifted that way lol

Q: Tell me some good books you’ve read recently.

Michelle: I love being swept away to a different time and place in historical romances. Some recent favorites are A Tapestry of Light by Kimberly Duffy, The Indebted Earl by Erica Vetsch, and Winning the Gentleman by Kristi Ann Hunter. I’m also enjoying the contemporary Walker Beach romances by Lindsay Harrel.

Carrie: those are all faves of mine, as well!

Q: If I sneaked a peek in your purse right now (which I would never do, I promise!), what would it tell me about you?

Michelle: The first thing you would learn is that I’m indecisive, so I have three purses I currently use depending on my mood and outfit! They all have multiple pens and a small notebook, and one is big enough to fit my laptop so you’d probably know off the bat that I’m a writer. You’ll also learn that I like cherry Lifesavers and orange TicTacs. I always have tissues and homemade lip balm on hand. If you need lotion, a ponytail binder, safety pin, ibuprofen, or a good book I’m your girl. I like to be prepared for anything!

Carrie: LOL you and Nicole Deese need to chat about your mutual love for packing for every eventuality 🙂

Q: Which of your main characters in Crazy For You is most like you?

Michelle: My hero, Peter, likes to keep the peace and bring people together. It wasn’t hard to understand him because that is totally me! I value relationships and connecting with others but also like Peter, I have a hard time disappointing or telling someone “no.”  I’ve had to learn that conflict can be useful and how to set some healthy boundaries which are things Peter faces in this story.

Carrie: those are great lessons to learn!

Q: Some authors like to hide little things in their stories. Is there anything you have hidden in Crazy For You

Michelle: I snuck in a little nod to an 80’s song.  I hope Jon Bon Jovi approves. 😉

Carrie: haha i love it!

Q: What is something God taught you while writing Crazy For You?

Michelle: Sometimes courage looks different than we expect. For Ronnie, she had to learn that courage meant letting others in, staying put when she wants to run, accepting when she wants to push away. She had to learn how to say “yes.” But for Peter, he needed the courage to push back and say “no.” Taking a cue from these two God is showing me there’s a time to fight and a time to make peace.

Carrie: That’s a profound truth, and it’s fabulous how you’ve shown both sides through two different characters

Thank you so much for taking time to talk with me! 🙂 Before we say goodbye for today, tell us what‘s coming up next for you.

Michelle: Up next for me is the release of Right Here Waiting in November 2021! It’s the sixth book in the Deep Haven Collection. It features Peter’s cousin, Nick Dahlquist who’s nursing a broken heart and training for the next sled dog race when a new helicopter pilot, Jae Lynn Washington, moves to town. There’s a secret online crush, dogs galore, trivia fun, blizzards and adventure!

And while that story is in the editing phase, I’m working on a third Deep Haven book contracted by Sunrise Publishing! Hooray! I’m teaming up again with Rachel D. Russell and Andrea Christenson. We’ll each write another Deep Haven story introducing a new family to readers and bringing back all the flavor of the Minnesota North Shore. Those books will come out in 2023.
