Series: Desires of the Heart #1
Release Date: January 24, 2021
Genre: Christian, Historical/Western Romance
By the age of 11, Lilly had suffered more horrific circumstances, than any adult should have to bear. She lost both of her parents and the only home she ever knew, then was forced to move away from her brothers and sisters.
Why had God allowed all of this tragedy?
Pa had found the perfect home for her before his death. Through her new family’s loving care and instruction, Lilly grew into a beautiful young lady, filled with compassion, intelligence, and having a strong faith in God.
When she met Tommy, her heart flipped! How could she make all of the life lessons she had learned, her faith in God, and Tommy fit into God’s plan for her life? Was Tommy truly part of God’s plan for her?
Tommy and his mother’s past brought possible danger to anyone close to them. Could Lilly put her family through that? Should she abandon Tommy and the feelings she had for him? Could prayer be the answer?
With more circumstances beyond their control fighting against them, it seemed their troubles would never end. Would God allow her the Desires of her Heart?
MORE BOOKS IN THIS SERIES
Hi Lynne! Welcome to the blog!
Lynne: Definitely dogs – they are lovable and loyal Cats are too unpredictable and independent
Carrie: There’s nothing quite like the love of a dog ♥
Lynne: Netflix – Much more diversity; I can pick what I like depending on what mood I’m in.
Carrie: that’s true! Though I still can’t give up my Hallmark Mysteries channel lol
Lynne: Board Games; I like being able to see what everybody else is doing!
Carrie: oh that’s a good point! Maybe that’s why I like board games better too 🙂
Lynne: Print; I do read a lot of ebooks, but there is something about being able to hold a real book in your hands that I love.
Carrie: I do collect the print copies – but I find myself reading the ebook more often than not.
Q: Around here I like to say that reading is my superpower. If YOU had a superpower, what would it be?
Lynne: Mrs. Fix-It I am an artist/crafter and any time anyone (especially in my family) needs to come up with a creative way to make something work out, they come to me and let me brainstorm and figure until we make it work.
Carrie: that’s an awesome superpower to have!
Q: When you walk into a bookstore, where do you head first?
Lynne: Romance/Drama especially Historical (I love the 1800’s era)
Carrie: always a fun part of the bookstore to visit!
Q: If I asked your characters to describe YOU as an author, what would they say?
Lynne: Probably that my brain is going so fast, I forget to put in enough details. That makes for a lot of edits! They would also say that what I write and what I live are very different. My characters get to live exciting lives that I only dream about, or I look at mistakes I’ve made in my life and come up with a different outcome for them. In reality, I am very fair with my children/grandchildren – in my writing life I definitely show partiality.
Carrie: great answer!
Q: What surprised you about your book or your characters as you wrote Where He Leads?
Lynne:When I started writing, I had the basic story line in my head. I had thought about “Where He Leads” for years. It was a ‘fictionally enhanced’ story of my grandmother’s life as a child. But as the book developed, I was amazed at how each character took on their own personalities and rerouted my ideas, to the point, instead of writing one book, I wrote an entire series because some of the characters became so interesting.
Carrie: oh i love that!
Q: Were there any songs that inspired you as you wrote Where He Leads?
Lynne: I was having trouble visualizing a young man begging for forgiveness because he had let pride get in his way. I had a big case of writer’s block until one day I was listening to Diamond Rio “Love is Stronger Than Pride”. That song said it all and set the atmosphere to demolish my writer’s block. Suddenly my character had a humbling experience with true remorse.
Carrie: Music is so good at inspiring stories, isn’t it?
Q: What do you most want readers to take away from Where He Leads?
Lynne: God is good all the time. Even when we don’t understand, He is in control, we just need to allow Him to lead us. We may THINK we know the desires of our heart, but God sees the big picture of our life and KNOWS the true desires of our heart.
Carrie: Amen ♥
Thank you so much for taking time to talk with me! 🙂 Before we say goodbye for today, tell us what‘s coming up next for you.
Lynne: Book #4 of the Desires of the Heart series – Just As I Am, was just published. I really would like to write one more in that series…I think. The ideas are there, but it may be better to create a new series. Meanwhile, as I am trying to decide on that, I started a new series, Darnell Farm. I am doing the final edits on Book #1 and I’m on the last chapter (rough draft) of Book #2. I don’t even have titles for them as of now, but I am loving this new family and group of characters. Stay tuned because there is definitely more to come!
