Lead to true love?
Rancher Will Claverley and spa owner Krista Montgomery agree on one thing—they are completely wrong for each other. Which is exactly why he asks her to be his fake girlfriend for a charity rodeo. No future; no expectations. Only, as they experience each other’s worlds, their connection starts to feel real. But can a city girl who doesn’t even like horses ever become a rancher’s wife?

Well, this story made me grin from ear-to-ear! Fake dating with a sassy spa owner & a swoony cowboy – who have a history together – means there are sparks and flirting and kisses aplenty. In other words, exactly my kind of book 😉

Will and Krista are pretty much opposites in every way. He runs a ranch; she can’t ride a horse (and doesn’t want to). She loves the water; he … well, you’ll find out. While this allows for some of the humorous moments throughout the story, it also provides some of the emotional layers too. Because when their fake dating turns less fake, they have to try & figure out what – and who – is most important. I especially liked the way the author wrote the moment when everything clicks into place in both their hearts – and how everything that seemed so insurmountable suddenly seems doable. She achieved a great balance of humor, swooniness, and emotion into those scenes, and I even wiped away a couple of tears despite my big grin.

Bottom Line: Her Rodeo Rancher is the second book in The Montgomerys of Spirit Lake series but it can be read as a stand alone – though I want to go back and catch the first book now too. The main romance thread is everything swoony and flirty and sweet, but there’s also a secondary romance subplot going on that I enjoyed following just as much. (Hence the big grin on my face from the first chapter to the last.) Stelmack weaves several layers together to create a truly engaging story with likable characters and a delicious romance.

My Rating: 4 stars / loved it!

KissingBook Level: 3+ / will forget to breathe on more than one occasion
